Chapter 188
Shelia frantically pulled out her phone to call Juan, while Joe stood by, coldly watching. โMs. Miles, no need to bother. Mr. Nichols wonโt take your call.โ Shelia didnโt believe it and called Juan repeatedly, but received no answer.
Completely devastated, Shelia knelt, as if seeking help, pulling at Joeโs sleeve. โJoe, please, help me. I canโt just leave like this. Can you call Mr. Nichols?โ Joe frowned. Shelia burst into tears. โIโI belong to Mr. Nichols already. If he doesnโt want me, he can tell me directly! But he canโt treat me like this!โ
Losing Juanโs sponsorship meant she was nothing at school. She would face hunger, poverty, and the disdain of her classmates again.
Finally, Joe relented, handing his phone to Shelia and saying coldly, โEven if Mr. Nichols answers, it wonโt change anything. What Mr. Nichols decides, no one can alter. And besides, you brought this upon yourself!โ He had been a bystander at Mr. Nicholsโ side for so long. He saw through Sheliaโs previous tactics, but Mr. Nichols had been blinded by her.
At this point, Shelia couldnโt bear to hear anything more. She immediately dialed Juanโs number, and he answered after one ring.
โIs it done?โ
Hearing Juanโs voice, Shelia felt a wave of joy. โJuan, why donโt you want me anymore? What did I do wrong? I can change! Please forgive me!โ
There was a moment of silence on the other end. Juan coldly replied, โWho drugged me last night, and who deleted Debraโs call records this morning? Do I need to say more?โ
Sheliaโs face froze. She had drugged him and deleted Debraโs call records. But Juan used to be very forgiving toward her! Not to mention they had already been intimate.
โJuan, but I really like youโฆโ Sheliaโs voice was weak.
Juan mercilessly hung up.
โMs. Miles, please.โ Joe took back the phone as several workers entered the room, packing Sheliaโs belongings. Shelia collapsed on the floor. Was this her only possible outcome?
Meanwhile, back at the apartment, Debra opened the curtains and saw the workers moving Shelia out. She recognized Joe and noticed Shelia carrying her belongings.
โWhatโs going on? Did Juan kick Shelia out?โ Erica asked, gossiping.
Debra frowned. โI find it strange too. Why would Juan suddenly ask Shelia to move out?โ
โShould I investigate it?โ Erica suggested.
โForget it, itโs none of my business,โ Debra replied, closing the curtains. โI just think Juan seemed odd today.โ
โReally?โ Erica hadnโt noticed that. Debra felt she saw guilt in Juanโs eyes earlier.
At midnight, after sorting out Sheliaโs situation, Joe returned to the company.
โMr. Nichols, everything has been taken care of.โ
โWhat about the investigation I asked you to do?โ
