Chapter 280

That was a line Juan had once said to Debra in her past life. Now, the tables had turned, and it was his turn to face the consequences of his actions.

โ€œLetโ€™s go,โ€ Debra said, her smile vanishing.

Marion raised his hand, and his men began to retreat. Juan, refusing to concede, tried to chase after them, but Joe swiftly blocked his path.

โ€œSir, you canโ€™t chase them. Thatโ€™s Marion Houston.โ€

โ€œIn Seamar City, I am in charge. What is Marion to me?โ€

โ€œCaleb has handed the Houston family over to Marion. We canโ€™t afford to mess with him.โ€

โ€œGet out of the way!โ€

He shoved Joe aside before his gaze fell on Shelia.

โ€œJuanโ€ฆโ€

Daunted by his glare, she stepped back.

โ€œTake these three back and interrogate them thoroughly.โ€

โ€œAnd Miss Miles?โ€

โ€œTake her back and lock her in the basement,โ€ Juan ordered. โ€œIf my grandmother asks, just say Iโ€™ve arranged for her to be elsewhere.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

โ€œJuan, Iโ€™m carrying your child. You canโ€™t do this to me. Let me go!โ€ Shelia struggled desperately as she was restrained and dragged toward the exit.

Joe picked up the divorce agreement from the ground, his expression uncertain. โ€œSir, the divorce agreementโ€ฆโ€

Juan glanced at the document, snatching it from Joeโ€™s hand and ripping it in half. โ€œAs long as I donโ€™t agree, Debra will stay as my wife. No matter how overbearing Marion is, he canโ€™t take her from me.โ€

Joeโ€™s expression grew even more troubled. โ€œBut weโ€™re in such a tough spot now. We canโ€™t afford conflicts with the Houston family.โ€

Juan said indifferently, โ€œI will let him know who rules Seamar City.โ€

He believed Debra would return to him once Marion was dealt with.

Debra got into Randyโ€™s car and asked, โ€œWhy are you here?โ€

Marion replied casually, โ€œI was worried you might be in danger.โ€

Randy interrupted from the front seat, โ€œThatโ€™s nonsense. Heโ€™s afraid youโ€™ll soften towards Juan.โ€

Marion shot a cold glance at Randy through the rearview mirror, silencing him instantly.

Debra couldnโ€™t help but smile, her eyes sparkling with amusement. โ€œSo, even fearless Marion has things heโ€™s afraid of.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m afraid of many things,โ€ Marion shrugged. โ€œIโ€™m afraid you might still care about Juan, afraid youโ€™ll regret the divorce, afraid you might not like me.โ€

Debraโ€™s face turned a soft shade of red, and she looked away.

Randy glanced at the rearview mirror, his mind racing with thoughts of Marionโ€™s uncharacteristic vulnerability. He wondered if Marion had practiced abstinence for too long. Through the rearview mirror, he saw Marion gazing at Debra. โ€˜Yep, abstinence for too long,โ€™ he concluded silently, looking away.

As the car pulled away from the church, a graceful woman in high heels stepped off a plane at the airport. She looked up at the Seamar City sky, her lips curving into a slight smile.

โ€œMarion, Iโ€™m back,โ€ she announced.
