Chapter 299
Marion swiftly removed his coat, wrapping it around Debra and pulling her tightly into his arms. His voice was cold, laced with anger, as he glared at Juan. โYouโre despicable, Juan.โ
Ben arrived belatedly, panting heavily. โMadam,โ he said, catching his breath, โIโve already called the police. Theyโll be here soon.โ
โThe police?โ Juan snorted, looking at Marion. โAre you out of your mind?โ He knew Marionโs background and his involvement in illegal activities. It was a risky move for someone like him to invite the authorities.
Debra was also taken aback. She whispered sharply, โMarion, do you even know what youโre doing?โ She wasnโt sure if Marionโs illegal activities had reached Seamar City. If they had, calling the police could spell trouble for him. He had been in this line of work for years and knew the game well.
โA certain CEO kidnaps his wife in the middle of the night, tries to rape her, and is then arrested by the police,โ Marion said, his voice icy and cutting. โI think this news will be breaking on the front page tomorrow.โ
Juanโs chest tightened at Marionโs words. He believed this kind of self-destructive move was something Marion would do.
Joe rushed in, his expression urgent. โSir, the police are here. Hurry up and leave.โ
Juanโs face darkened as he shot a cold glance at Marion. The police had already made their way upstairs, their flashlights cutting through the dimly lit room. They looked at Juan, their expressions stern.
โAre you Juan Nichols? Someone reported that you kidnapped and attempted to rape someone.โ
Juanโs gaze remained fixed on Debra, but she was nestled safely in Marionโs arms, refusing to glance at him. The police looked around the room, their eyes settling on the small group. โWho made the report?โ
โIt was me,โ Ben said.
Debra quickly chimed in, โI told him to call the police.โ Ben used to work for Marion, and she wasnโt sure if he had done illegal things before. If he had, his past associations could come back to haunt both him and Marion.
Debra wrapped Marionโs coat tighter around herself and said, โIf thereโs a statement to be taken, Iโll do it as the person involved.โ
The police nodded. โThen please come with us.โ
โOkay,โ Debra agreed, but before she could take a step, Marion wrapped his arm around her waist. โMy girlfriend was just traumatized,โ he said calmly. โIโm going with her.โ
โMarion,โ Debra tried to remind him, but he pinched her waist gently, silencing her protest.
Juan watched with annoyance. โDebra is my wife. When did she become your girlfriend?โ
Marion snorted, โYouโre out there playing around and even have a child, while Debra only has me as her boyfriend. Whatโs so strange about that?โ
The atmosphere between them grew tense. Juan glanced at Joe, who took the hint and called the head of the police station. Once the line was through, he placed his phone in front of the police officers. โOfficers, your chief has something to tell you.โ
Seeing Juanโs calm and composed demeanor, Debra knew he had anticipated the worst outcome. Juan was a businessman who controlled Seamar City for years. If he couldnโt handle the police, then he was nothing but a powerless figurehead.
