Chapter 303

“Stop right there.” Manon’s voice cut through the air, sharp and commanding. Melody halted.

“Are you serious?” Debra asked.

“Don’t worry, violence is the last resort,” Marion replied, patting Debra’s head. “But I’ll make sure she sees the consequences of her actions and regrets everything she’s done tonight.”

A police officer beside them asked, “Mr. Houston, Ms. Frazier, are you coming in?”

Debra nodded, and Marion placed a protective arm around her as they entered the station. Inside, Melody sat with her back straight and her expression haughty.

“I’m waiting here for your chief to come.”

“Madam, it’s not that we’re making things difficult for you, but our chief has urgent business to attend to.”

“Tell him I am here. He’d better come over and see me.”

“Madam, why can’t you understand?” The officers looked exasperated.

Just then, Debra and Marion walked in. The officers’ faces lit up, and their demeanor changed.

“Mr. Houston, Ms. Frazier, you’ve arrived. Please come in.”

The contrast in their attitudes was stark. Melody wasn’t happy about that.

“I told you to call your chief here. Don’t you understand?”

“Madam, why don’t you get it? Our chief is busy and can’t come.”
