Chapter 315
โHold on tight,โ Marion said, flooring the accelerator. Debra quickly fastened her seatbelt, her heart pounding as the car sped through the night. Marion ran red lights without hesitation.
When they arrived at their destination, the house was in disarray. Ben and several injured bodyguards sat in the living room. They all stood as soon as they saw Debra.
โMadam!โ Ben approached, his voice grave. โJuan only took Stanley.โ
โWhere is Rosalie?โ
โStill in the basement.โ
โIโll go take a look.โ
Marion walked ahead, his stride swift and purposeful. He worried Rosalie might do something desperate to harm Debra.
As the door opened, Rosalie lunged at Debra. But before she could get close, Marion intervened, kicking her back with a swift, precise movement.
Rosalie stumbled, pleading, โPlease, let Stanley go.โ She had been locked up alone for less than half an hour, and the darkness was driving her nearly insane.
โJuan took Stanley. Did he do anything else? Did he leave any messages?โ Debra asked.
Rosalie shook her head frantically. โNothing. He took Stanley without a word. It was all my fault. It has nothing to do with Stanley. Please let him go.โ
Unable to get any useful information, Debra frowned and turned to Ben. โLetโs go.โ
โOkay,โ Ben nodded.
They left the basement, the door closing once more behind them. Rosalieโs cries echoed, her pleas for mercy fading into the distance.
โLet me out! Please, save my son!โ
Debra had a severe headache. โFind out where Juan took Stanley within the hour.โ
โIโve already sent people to investigate, but the chances are slim,โ Ben replied. Juanโs reputation in Seamar City was well-earned. The Nichols family had been powerful for a long time, their methods often underhanded and ruthless. This was likely his revenge for Stanleyโs actions.
Although Debra wanted to teach Stanley a lesson, she never intended to take his life. After all, he was Ralphโs only child.
โDebra?โ Marionโs voice sounded close, then distant.
She looked up, her eyes struggling to focus as Marion seemed to blur. She shook her head, trying to stay awake, but her vision remained hazy. Then she felt herself falling backward.
โDebra!โ Marion called, catching her in his arms.
He felt her forehead. Her face was flushed, and her breathing was uneven.
โSheโs running a fever.โ He scooped Debra into his arms and instructed Ben, โGo get a doctor now. I want them here in twenty minutes.โ
โIโm on it.โ Ben hurried off.
Marion glanced at Debra, who felt almost weightless in his arms. He carried her upstairs to her room, placing her gently on the bed.
The room was dimly lit. He felt Debraโs forehead again and frowned.
Benโs voice came from outside the door. โMr. Houston, the doctor is on the way.โ
โGet some cold water,โ Marion ordered.
