Chapter 337
โYes, sir,โ Joe responded.
The board members, who had threatened Juan with resignation, nearly collapsed. They had forgotten the steely resolve and power Juan once wielded; his recent nonchalance had lulled them into a false sense of security.
โSir, are you sure about letting them resign?โ Joe asked cautiously. โThey are all senior board members, after all.โ
Juanโs expression remained impassive. โI want to send a clear message to my grandmother. No matter how far her influence reaches, it stops at the companyโs doorโand mine.โ
โUnderstood, sir.โ Joe nodded, knowing better than to argue.
Juan pulled out a card and handed it to Joe. โThis should cover everything. I need some time to myself.โ
Joe hesitated. โSir, while the construction site issues have been resolved, thereโs still the matter of Mrs. Nichols.โ He paused, bracing himself for Juanโs glare. โMrs. Nichols keeps sending divorce papers daily. We canโt keep ignoring them.โ
โArrange a meeting with her tonight.โ
โBut Mrs. Nichols Sr. insisted that you return home tonight.โ
โThis is my family and my company; I make the rules.โ
โYes, sir.โ
As the sun began to set, Sheila had prepared an elaborate dinner, eagerly awaiting Juanโs return. When a car pulled up outside the house at seven oโclock, she rushed to the door, only to find the driver stepping out alone.
โWhereโs Juan? Why hasnโt he come back?โ she asked.
The driver replied, โMr. Nichols has other plans for the evening. He asked me to inform Mrs. Nichols Sr. and you not to wait for him for dinner.โ
โDo you know where heโs going?โ
โHe mentioned a business discussion with Mrs. Nichols.โ
A wave of jealousy surged through Sheila, and she tightened her grip on the door. Despite everything Debra has done, Juan still cares so much about her.
โDo you know which restaurant?โ
โI think itโs the Emerald Hotel.โ
โA hotel?โ
Sheilaโs mind flashed with images of Juan and Debra together in a hotel room.
She told the driver, โI just remembered I have an urgent matter to discuss with Juan. Take me to the Emerald Hotel immediately.โ
โI donโt think thatโs a good idea,โ replied the driver.
Sheila pressed some cash into his hand, and the driver reluctantly agreed.
Juan secured a window-side table at the Emerald Hotelโs restaurant. The location offered a clear view of the Frazier Entertainment office building, allowing him to spot Debra as soon as she arrived.
He found himself wondering why he had never given her the attention she deserved. He wondered if treating her better after their marriage would have led to a happier ending.
Joe approached the table and said, โSir, Mrs. Nichols has arrived.โ
Debra entered the restaurant, her elegant dress and cool demeanor a stark contrast to the woman Juan remembered. She met his gaze with a polite smile, taking a seat across from him. โAre you ready to sign the divorce papers?โ
