Chapter 338
The Emerald Hotelโs restaurant area was exclusively reserved by Juan. The lighting was dim, and retro music played softly. The chef meticulously arranged the dishes, their presentation creating an ambiguous mood.
Debra glanced at the food, her expression cool and detached. โI thought you came to sign the divorce papers.โ Earlier that day, there had been a significant uproar at the Nichols Group. The resentment toward her was palpable, and she couldnโt believe Melody hadnโt intervened in such a high-pressure situation. Juan was supposed to discuss the divorce, not arrange a private dinner.
โDoes Marion know about your relationship with Tracy?โ Juan suddenly asked.
Debra frowned. โWhat do you mean?โ
Juan replied, โTracy opposed the Nichols Group for your sake. Before your accident, you had the Frazier Group merge with his company. Your relationship must be special.โ
Realization dawned on Debra. Juan believed sheโd only succeeded with the Frazier Group because of Tracy. Heโd never believed a woman like her could elevate the family on her own, and certainly not Debra, who used to follow him around, as the owner of the McKinney Group.
โSo, you think I have a thing with Tracy?โ Debra said, swirling her wine. โI just wonder what kind of relationship you think we haveโwhether itโs something in bed orโฆโ
Juanโs composure crackedโa rare sight. โDebra, I failed you, so I kept quiet no matter what you did. But you shouldnโt degrade yourself like this.โ
โYou just donโt understand me. If you donโt want a divorce, then thereโs no point in finishing this meal,โ Debra stated indifferently, rising from her chair.
Juan quickly moved behind her, wrapping his arms around her. Debra snapped, โLet go of me!โ
Juanโs voice was low and desperate. โThat day at the police station, you deliberately let me go. You still have feelings for me, donโt you?โ
Debra stopped struggling.
Noticing her lack of resistance, Juan felt a surge of relief, but Debraโs cold voice cut through the air. โI let you go because you had nothing to do with the matter. Thatโs all.โ
The driver dropped Shelia off at the hotel entrance. Through the glass window, she saw Juan hugging Debra from behind, her eyes widening in fury. She stormed into the hotel; the security guards failed to stop her. She rushed to Debra, pulled her away, and slapped her.
Shelia snarled, โYou bitch! Youโre about to get a divorce and still trying to seduce Juan. Youโre disgusting!โ
Her loud voice startled nearby customers, drawing curious glances toward the restaurant. Juan immediately pulled Shelia away from Debra. โHave you lost your mind? How dare you come here and make a scene?โ
Sheliaโs eyes blazed. โIf you dare to be with Debra here, why shouldnโt I come? Donโt forget Iโm carrying your child. Melody has promised me that once you two are divorced, Iโll marry you. How can you treat me like this?โ
