Chapter 339
Sheliaโs public tantrum drew everyoneโs attention. People outside the restaurant cast curious and disapproving glances at Debra and Juan, their expressions filled with silent judgment.
โSir,โ Joe rushed to the scene, but Juanโs steely gaze cut him short. โWho brought her here?โ
Joe stammered, unable to respond. He knew any excuse was futile. Hidden in nearby bushes, a figure snapped a photo of the unfolding drama and slipped away. Debraโs patience was wearing thin. โYou keep making a scene. Donโt bother me.โ
โYouโre not allowed to leave!โ Shelia, her face contorted with jealousy and rage, grabbed Debraโs hand. โEveryone, look! This woman is divorced and trying to seduce my husband!โ
More people gathered. Juan snapped, โShelia, what do you think youโre doing?โ
โIโm carrying your child. Yet youโre here with your ex-wife. Do you even want this child?โ
โI never wanted this child.โ Debra heard the familiar words, this time directed at Shelia. A pang of pain shot through her chest, remembering her own loss.
โGo home and argue amongst yourselves. Donโt drag me into this.โ Debra tried to shake off Sheliaโs grip, but Shelia dramatically fell backward. Debra instinctively reached out, but Shelia ignored her and pinched Debraโs hand. Debra pulled back as Shelia hit the ground.
โAh, my childโฆโ Shelia wailed, feigning agony. โYou wicked woman, you want to harm my child! Juan, why are you just standing there? Hurry and take me to the hospital!โ
Debra sneered, seeing through Sheliaโs performance. Shelia had no idea what true pain felt likeโthe pain of losing a child.
Juan glanced at Shelia and then at the increasingly curious onlookers. If Shelia continued, things would escalate, further implicating Debra. Joe quickly stepped forward to help Shelia, but she ignored him, his hand hanging awkwardly in the air.
Left with no choice, Juan picked Shelia up. His voice was low as he instructed Joe, โGo get the car. Letโs go home.โ
โYes, sir.โ
Debra stood watching as Shelia cast her a triumphant smile.
โSo what if Juan likes you? I am carrying his child, and he has to accommodate me.โ
As Debra watched Juan carry Shelia away, she wasnโt thinking about the judgmental stares. Instead, she thought that if Juan had been this responsible toward her child in her past life, her child might still be alive. She wasnโt important to him; even with Sheliaโs poor behavior, he still valued the child she carried.
Debra slowly walked out of the restaurant, her mind racing. As she reached the door, she heard a womanโs voice behind her.
โSir, are you okay? Let me help you up.โ
