Chapter 356 + 25 BONUS
โYou tell me, Uncle Ralph,โ Debra said, gesturing to the documents laid out on the table.
Ralph reached for the papers with a trembling hand, his eyes scanning the first page. Soon enough, his legs buckled, and he collapsed to the ground. Debra watched him, her expression impassive as she suppressed the surge of emotions threatening to overwhelm her. โYouโre my uncle, and I never imagined it was you.โ
Ralph looked up at her, his aged face streaked with tears and cold sweat. โI had no choice. If I canโt repay that money, theyโll break my arms and legs, and Iโll be dead.โ
โSo, you set me up?โ Debra laughed coldly. โYou should know, with charges like embezzlement and bribery, Iโd spend the rest of my life in prison. But you still did this.โ
Ralphโs breath hitched, his words tumbling out in a rush. โI never wanted to harm you, but you were restless, insisting on divorcing Juan and running the Frazier family.โ He paused and added, โYou donโt know what my life was like. It was only after you married Juan that those people stopped bothering me. But now, youโre about to fall out with Juan, and they are coming after me again. I was afraid the embezzlement would be exposed.โ
โYou were afraid of going to jail because of it, werenโt you?โ Debra snorted. โYou messed up and wanted me to take the blame. I never truly saw you for who you were.โ
Ralph still tried to defend himself. โDebra, I raised you. How could I harm you? I knew both Marion and Juan cared about you. Theyโd find a way to save you, so Iโฆโ
Debraโs voice turned sharp. โMarion is abroad, and Juan is with Sheila. You reported me at such a time because you wanted to send me to jail while they were not around, right?โ
Ralphโs shoulders slumped, his desperate pleas falling silent as he realized he couldnโt deceive her any longer.
Debraโs voice was cool and measured as she continued, โYou not only want me to take the fall but also want the Frazier Group. Am I right?โ
If she went to jail, Ralph could rightfully take over the Frazier family and the company. Once he was in charge, he could explain away any discrepancies. It was a clever plan, but Debra saw right through it.
Ralph took a deep breath and made one last attempt to bargain. โDebra, I raised you, and you owe me the favor. If you help me settle this and give me ten billion dollars, I promise Iโll never gamble again. Also, Iโll step down and transfer all my shares to you.โ
Debraโs eyebrows shot up in disbelief. โTen billion? You have the nerve to ask.โ
The stake Ralph had in the company wasnโt even worth five billion. Yet he wanted her to cover his debt and give him ten billion. That was nothing but a foolโs talk.
