Chapter 366
Marion drew in a sharp breath, and Debra, thinking she had caused him pain, swiftly moved closer to inspect the wound. โWhatโs wrong? I didnโt use much force,โ she said, concern etched on her face.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Marionโs mouth. Debra quickly caught on to his ruse and glared at him. โI was genuinely concerned, and youโre just teasing me,โ she chided.
As she turned to leave, Marion acted swiftly, pulling her into his embrace. โI was wrong. Forgive me,โ he whispered. The room seemed to crackle with unspoken intimacy. Debraโs face flushed with embarrassment, and she found herself torn between wanting to push Marion away and not wanting to aggravate his injuries. For a moment, the only sound in the room was the steady rhythm of their heartbeats.
โHey, donโt push me.โ Ericaโs muffled voice suddenly broke the silence, coming from just outside the door. Startled, Debra quickly extricated herself from Marionโs embrace just as Randy and Erica stumbled into the room.
โSorry to interrupt. IโI just got back,โ Randy stammered, still clutching a suitcase. Erica shot him an annoyed look. โItโs all your fault. You messed things up.โ
โHow can it be my fault? How was I supposed to know?โ Randy retorted, but his voice trailed off as he noticed Marionโs stern gaze. โI just came to change clothes. I didnโt realize you two wereโฆ Well, Iโll go outside and change there. You guys continue,โ he said hastily, pulling Erica out of the room.
After a tense silence, Marion broke the quiet. โThe trouble with your familyโฆโ
โIโve taken care of it,โ Debra said.
Marion paused before continuing. โI heard from Erica that youโre planning to enter showbiz.โ
Debra hesitated for a moment before admitting, โYes, I am considering it.โ
Marionโs expression grew serious. โThe entertainment industry isnโt as easy as you might think. But if you want to make a go of it, Iโll help pave the way.โ
Fraizer Entertainment had only managed to make Michael a star over the years, pouring all its resources into him. They had essentially bought his success with money. In Seamar City, there were many established entertainment companies, each more formidable than Fraizer Entertainment. If Debra hadnโt left Michael behind, he might have already found success elsewhere.
Debra was aware of these challenges. If she wanted to enter showbiz, she first needed to expand McKinney Groupโs entertainment business.
โThank you, but I can manage,โ she said, her voice filled with determination.
At that moment, Marion was shirtless, his well-defined muscles on full display. His gaze on Debra grew increasingly intense, almost feverish. Debra quickly averted her eyes, feeling a flush creep up her cheeks.
โThere are still things waiting for me at the company, soโฆโ Before she could finish, Marion moved swiftly, pinning her against the wall.
Debraโs breath caught in her throat as Marion shut the door with a dull thud, sealing them off from the world outside. Her heart raced as she bit her lip, her voice barely a whisper. โWโWhat are you doing?โ
Marionโs gaze traveled from Debraโs captivating eyes to her cherry lips. He croaked, โIโve handled everything for this day.โ He leaned in close, and his Adamโs apple bobbed. โThere will be no obstacles ahead. Debra, will you be my woman?โ
Debraโs face turned a deep shade of red. She had never experienced such a direct and heartfelt confession, not even in her past life.
