Chapter 376
Joe nodded and shouted toward the door, โBring him in.โ
Edgarโs frown deepened as a man, escorted by two bodyguards, was brought into the room. The fighting immediately ceased. The man was forced to his knees, his hands bound behind his back. His face was bruised and swollen.
Juan, his voice as cold as ice, issued a chilling command: โCut the hitting.โ The man struggled frantically, his eyes wide with terror. Edgar remained silent, his gaze fixed on the unfolding scene.
One of Juanโs bodyguards grasped the manโs wrist and, with a swift, brutal motion, brought a heavy object crashing down. A scream echoed through the room before he slumped to the floor, unconscious.
Edgarโs gaze was icy, but he knew better than to intervene. Seamar City was Juanโs territory, and picking a fight here would not end in his favor. Furthermore, Marionโs men had warned him earlier that day.
โThis is settled,โ Juan stated, standing up, his eyes locked onto Edgar. โMr. Odom, if you want to settle accounts with Sheila, Iโm always here. Show me what youโve got.โ
With that, he left the nightclub, his men following closely behind. Edgarโs secretary, standing beside him, wore a deep frown. โSir, are we just going to let this go?โ The Odom familyโs influence in Booton was not to be taken lightly, yet Juan dared to challenge them.
โIโm not afraid of Juan.โ
โThen who, sir?โ
โMarion.โ
Edgarโs brows knitted together. He hadnโt anticipated that Debra would provoke such significant action from Marion and Juan. If he had known, he wouldnโt have acted so impulsively. A message arrived from Chace, with Al Borow. Edgar instructed, "And hold aโ"
The message was interrupted by news that Jade had been found. Before asking about the injured bodyguard, Edgar glanced at the unconscious man on the floor, ordering that he be sent home.
Distraught, Debra tossed and turned in her room, sleep eluding her. At the soft click of the front door opening, she immediately sat up. Marion had just returned, his tall figure silhouetted against the dimly lit living room. Debra felt a pang of regret for her impulsiveness. She shouldnโt have rushed out just because she heard a noise. Now she stood there, uncertain of what to say.
Marion casually took off his coat and approached her. He gently pushed her onto the sofa and crouched down to inspect the injuries on her face.
โHow did you resolve it?โ she asked, intrigued by what Marion could have done to make Edgar back down, knowing full well the Odom familyโs power.
Marion pulled out a bank card and placed it in her hand. โHere is five billion.โ
Debraโs eyes widened in shock. Five billion? She couldnโt believe that Edgar had given up five billion dollars for that slap.
โWhatโs the economic compensation?โ she asked.
โI made him pay five billion dollars, but I didnโt say Iโd stop at that.โ
