Chapter 397

โ€œButโ€ฆโ€ Sheila still wanted to protest. Edgar cut her off, his voice firm. โ€œIโ€™ve had a long day. Go to bed.โ€

Sheila retreated to her room, her shoulders slumping in defeat. In the spacious living room, Edgarโ€™s phone rang sharply, breaking the silence. He answered, his secretaryโ€™s voice coming through the line.

โ€œMr. Odom, weโ€™ve found the illegitimate child of your father and that woman.โ€

Edgarโ€™s eyes narrowed. โ€œWho is it?โ€

โ€œTheyโ€™ve been living in Booton all these years. We found out the childโ€™s name is Oscar Harper.โ€

As far as Edgar remembered, that womanโ€™s family name wasnโ€™t Harper. It seemed that after all these years, she still dreamed of joining the Odom family and hoped her son would become the heir.

โ€œWhat a fantasy!โ€ Edgar snorted.

โ€œThereโ€™s one more thing.โ€

โ€œGo ahead.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s about Miss Miles,โ€ Chace said hesitantly. โ€œOur people said Miss Miles sent them to cut Michaelโ€™s brake lines today. Michael is now in the hospital.โ€

Edgarโ€™s brow furrowed deeply. โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you stop her?โ€

โ€œMiss Miles has a bad temper, and weโ€ฆโ€ Chace faltered.

โ€œI get it,โ€ Edgar said, ending the call.

He hadnโ€™t really intended to find Jade. Sheila had appeared at the right time, pregnant with Juanโ€™s child, and he saw an opportunity to build a good relationship with the Blair family. He thought he could leverage this to undermine Juan and hold something over Sheila to keep her in check. But she kept causing trouble instead.

โ€œWhy wouldnโ€™t she just behave?โ€ Edgar groaned, calling his driver. โ€œBring the car. Iโ€™m going to the hospital.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

The hospital had been chaotic from morning to evening. The area was packed with reporters, each eager for exclusive news. Seeing the crowd, Ben said, โ€œItโ€™s hard to get in here now. Letโ€™s use the back door.โ€

Debra shook her head. โ€œThere might be people at the back door, too. Give me a mask.โ€ โ€œOkay,โ€ Ben nodded, handing her a mask.

Debra took it and swiftly exited the car. With a steady expression, she walked into the hospital. Bundled up in a thick down jacket and wearing a face mask, she blended perfectly with the other patients, barely drawing a glance from the reporters who had been stationed there all day.

Once safely inside the hospital, she removed her mask. The director hurried over, reassuringly saying, โ€œMs. Frazier, the patient is currently resting in his room. Thereโ€™s no major cause for concern.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll see about that,โ€ Debra said, walking past him toward the elevator. The director had no choice but to follow.

Downstairs, a commotion erupted as Edgar stepped out of his luxury car. The reporters, spotting an opportunity, rushed forward with their cameras.

โ€œMr. Odom, are you here to visit Michael?โ€

Edgarโ€™s bodyguards quickly formed a barrier, shielding him from the eager reporters. As he entered the hospital, a nurse asked, โ€œSir, are you looking for anyone?โ€
