Chapter 397
โButโฆโ Sheila still wanted to protest. Edgar cut her off, his voice firm. โIโve had a long day. Go to bed.โ
Sheila retreated to her room, her shoulders slumping in defeat. In the spacious living room, Edgarโs phone rang sharply, breaking the silence. He answered, his secretaryโs voice coming through the line.
โMr. Odom, weโve found the illegitimate child of your father and that woman.โ
Edgarโs eyes narrowed. โWho is it?โ
โTheyโve been living in Booton all these years. We found out the childโs name is Oscar Harper.โ
As far as Edgar remembered, that womanโs family name wasnโt Harper. It seemed that after all these years, she still dreamed of joining the Odom family and hoped her son would become the heir.
โWhat a fantasy!โ Edgar snorted.
โThereโs one more thing.โ
โGo ahead.โ
โItโs about Miss Miles,โ Chace said hesitantly. โOur people said Miss Miles sent them to cut Michaelโs brake lines today. Michael is now in the hospital.โ
Edgarโs brow furrowed deeply. โWhy didnโt you stop her?โ
โMiss Miles has a bad temper, and weโฆโ Chace faltered.
โI get it,โ Edgar said, ending the call.
He hadnโt really intended to find Jade. Sheila had appeared at the right time, pregnant with Juanโs child, and he saw an opportunity to build a good relationship with the Blair family. He thought he could leverage this to undermine Juan and hold something over Sheila to keep her in check. But she kept causing trouble instead.
โWhy wouldnโt she just behave?โ Edgar groaned, calling his driver. โBring the car. Iโm going to the hospital.โ
Chapter 397
โYes, sir.โ
The hospital had been chaotic from morning to evening. The area was packed with reporters, each eager for exclusive news. Seeing the crowd, Ben said, โItโs hard to get in here now. Letโs use the back door.โ
Debra shook her head. โThere might be people at the back door, too. Give me a mask.โ โOkay,โ Ben nodded, handing her a mask.
Debra took it and swiftly exited the car. With a steady expression, she walked into the hospital. Bundled up in a thick down jacket and wearing a face mask, she blended perfectly with the other patients, barely drawing a glance from the reporters who had been stationed there all day.
Once safely inside the hospital, she removed her mask. The director hurried over, reassuringly saying, โMs. Frazier, the patient is currently resting in his room. Thereโs no major cause for concern.โ
โIโll see about that,โ Debra said, walking past him toward the elevator. The director had no choice but to follow.
Downstairs, a commotion erupted as Edgar stepped out of his luxury car. The reporters, spotting an opportunity, rushed forward with their cameras.
โMr. Odom, are you here to visit Michael?โ
Edgarโs bodyguards quickly formed a barrier, shielding him from the eager reporters. As he entered the hospital, a nurse asked, โSir, are you looking for anyone?โ
