Chapter 500

โ€œHow could there be robbers?โ€ Debra frowned. The place was a fortress, bristling with guards, maids, and bodyguards, not to mention the state-of-the-art security system. It was virtually impregnable. No ordinary robber could infiltrate it.

Erica tugged nervously at Debraโ€™s arm. โ€œThe police should be here any minute. Letโ€™s not get involved. We should go.โ€

Debra shook her head. โ€œNo police. Iโ€™m going in.โ€

Randy was astounded. โ€œDebra, donโ€™t be reckless.โ€

Debra glanced at the grand entrance, having a general idea of what was going on. She made a dash toward the house. Inside, the hall was chaotic and dark.

Suddenly, a pair of hands gripped her arms. โ€œBoss, weโ€™ve got a woman here.โ€

The robberโ€™s voice caught the attention of their leader in the darkness.

โ€œLet her go.โ€

โ€œButโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI said, let her go.โ€

The voice was unmistakable. Even though it was lowered, Debra knew exactly who it was.

โ€œDebra, get out of here,โ€ Juan said weakly.

Debra ignored his warning, moving closer to the masked man. โ€œStop this nonsense. The police will be here any second,โ€ she whispered.

Marion stiffened, and she added, โ€œYouโ€™ve vented your anger. Itโ€™s time to go.โ€

Marion remained silent, but a subordinate stepped forward and said, โ€œBoss, weโ€™ve controlled the whole Nichols family. Let me finish off Juan for you.โ€

A sharp crack echoed as Marion struck the subordinate.

โ€œBossโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWithdraw,โ€ Marion commanded. โ€œDo I need to repeat myself?โ€

Marion turned, striding out of the estate. His subordinates released the Nichols familyโ€™s staff and followed suit.

Debra took a deep breath. โ€œTurn on the power.โ€

โ€œOn it.โ€

Confirming safety, Joe dashed toward the electrical room on the first floor. Moments later, the house was bathed in light.

Juan was slumped by the sofa, his face pale. A knife was protruding from his left side, and blood pooled around him.

โ€œFind a first-aid kit and call an ambulance!โ€

The room sprang into action. Debra approached Juan, examining his wound. The knife was stuck in his left side. Fortunately, it hadnโ€™t been pulled out; otherwise, he would be in much worse shape, likely dead before the ambulance arrived.

โ€œHang in there. Donโ€™t pull out the knife. Iโ€™ll get some clotting medicine. Weโ€™ll wait for the ambulance,โ€ she said.

Juan managed a weak smile. โ€œAlright, I trust you.โ€
