Chapter 501
โThe first-aid kit is here,โ the maid announced, placing it before Debra.
Erica and Randy rushed in, their faces etched with concern. Erica took one look at the disarray and instantly knew who the so-called โrobberโ was. She offered, โTake my car. The ambulance could take forever to get here.โ
โOkay,โ Debra nodded, swiftly instructing the security guards to carry Juan into the car.
At the hospital, doctors immediately began emergency treatment on Juan. Erica and Debra sat on a bench.
โHeโll pull through. The doctor said the wound wasnโt critical,โ Erica stated.
โBut excessive blood loss can still be fatal. Whereโs Randy?โ Debra rubbed her temples, her voice laced with worry.
โHe had something urgent to attend to.โ
โHe went to find Marion, didnโt he?โ
They both knew Marion was behind the attack. His reckless, impulsive actions had left Juan fighting for his life. Though the knife had missed any vital organs, the risk of complications lingered like a dark shadow.
The doctor emerged from the operating room. โWhoโs the family member? The patient needs to be hospitalized. Please sign here.โ
โI am,โ Debra stepped forward to sign the form. โWhen will he regain consciousness?โ
โThe anesthetic should wear off later tonight,โ the doctor replied.
โOkay, Iโll stay with him.โ
โDebra.โ Erica was worried, but Debra reassured her, โLet Randy handle Marion. Iโll return once Juan is stable.โ
โButโฆโ
Erica knew Marionโs temper well. If he had gone so far as to break into the Nichols family house, it showed how angry he was. This wasnโt something Randy could easily fix.
โMarion was reckless. He likely left evidence behind. Tell Randy to clean up this mess. If the police get involved, Marion is in serious trouble.โ
โIโll let him know.โ
As Juan was wheeled into the private ward, Joe rushed in and saw Debra standing vigil by Juanโs side.
โMadam.โ
โDid you see the robberโs face?โ
โNo, Madam. It all happened so fast.โ The Nichols family had many enemies, but this was the first time someone had broken into their home.
โWhy didnโt you call the police immediately?โ
Normally, Joe would have been quick to report it, but the police had not arrived or returned any calls. Debra hadnโt allowed Erica and Randy to call the police because she suspected Marion was behind it. Yet, the Nichols family was clueless.
โMr. Nichols instructed me not to. I was just following orders.โ Joe was confused about the situation.
A knowing smile played at the corners of Debraโs mouth. โStay here and guard him. I have matters to attend to.โ
โMadam, arenโt you going to stay with Mr. Nichols?โ
