Chapter 570

Marion strode forward, protectively wrapping Debra behind him. โ€œI told you, donโ€™t mess with Debra,โ€ he said coldly. The cheerful expression vanished from Calebโ€™s face. He set down his fork and knife, removing the scarf around his neck. His voice carried a deep, imposing authority as he said, โ€œIs that how you speak to your grandfather?โ€

Years of privilege had left Caleb slightly stocky. His face, though etched with a few wrinkles, was still mostly smooth. His hair, a sharp contrast of perfectly groomed white, might have made him look like a distinguished gentleman, but his eyes, like Marionโ€™s, were sharp, wild, and dangerous.

โ€œMarion,โ€ Debra interjected, โ€œCaleb didnโ€™t give me a hard time. We were just having a meal together.โ€

Marionโ€™s gaze fell on the plate of sandwiches. He stepped forward, picked one up, and popped it into his mouth, as if to check for anything suspicious. โ€œItโ€™s a little salty,โ€ he said, his tone flat.

Debra crossed her arms. โ€œI made those sandwiches.โ€

His expression changed instantly. โ€œDelicious.โ€

Calebโ€™s face darkened. Marion was just like his fatherโ€”soft-hearted when it came to love.

โ€œYouโ€™ve had the sandwiches. Now Iโ€™m taking her with me. Any objections?โ€ Marion asked.

Caleb leaned back. โ€œI went to the trouble of preparing a meal for my granddaughter-in-law, and now you want to whisk her away just like that? Debra, do you want to leave?โ€

Debra looked at Marion and said softly, โ€œLetโ€™s stay. Iโ€™m hungry.โ€

Marion frowned. โ€œDebra says sheโ€™s hungry. Whereโ€™s the food?โ€

โ€œHmph, look at you. Romance before family,โ€ Caleb grumbled, leading them from the kitchen.

The servants had already prepared a change of clothes for Caleb. He soon returned to the grand hall, dressed immaculately, as though he hadnโ€™t just been cooking. Their dining table was rarely shared with outsiders, but Debra chose a seat closest to Caleb, signaling for Marion to sit beside her. He complied, though somewhat reluctantly, simply because Debra had asked him to.

The long dining table stretched the distance between them, making them feel feet apart, unlike a cozy family gathering. Calebโ€™s thoughts drifted back to when his son, Dwayne, was still alive, seated just like this beside Itzel. He hadnโ€™t imagined heโ€™d see such a scene again after all these years.

Maintaining his authority, Caleb asked, โ€œThe Frazier family may have gone bankrupt, but we donโ€™t care about such things. I do have a question, though. When did you realize who I was?โ€

โ€œThe moment I first saw you,โ€ Debra replied. โ€œThat +25 bonus, limited editionโ€ฆ itโ€™s hard not to notice.โ€

Caleb raised an eyebrow, intrigued. He looked down and glanced at the butler. โ€œYou picked this?โ€

The butler stammered, โ€œMr. Houston Sr., I bought it based on your instructions, but you didnโ€™t specify a budget.โ€

The poor butler was caught in the crossfire.
