Chapter 587
โI was just afraid of losing you,โ Marion said, his voice filled with a rare sincerity. Usually, he was the epitome of rebellion and nonchalance, making him hard to read. But moments like these, when he was earnest, were few and far between.
Debra pinched his nose. โIโll take care of myself. And even if I canโt, I know youโll be there to protect me, right?โ
Her words finally brought a smile to Marionโs face. He feared nothing except the thought of Debra getting hurt.
โAbout those flowersโฆโ
โIโll take them. Could you have them sent to my apartment, please?โ She handed Marion her apartment key. โMake sure to fill the place with them.โ
โOf course,โ Marion replied, holding the key tightly.
Meanwhile, the Nichols family had received some news. Melody looked at the photos in her hand, her anger boiling over as she slammed them onto the table. One showed a man pulling a car full of flowers to the entrance of the McKinney Group; another showed a man waiting outside Debraโs apartment and interacting with her. Another depicted a man and Debra sitting in a car, laughing together.
The paparazzo, seeing Melodyโs fury, quickly spoke up. โMadam, I got everything you asked for. About the paymentโฆโ
โDid you get a clear look at the man? Who is he?โ Melody demanded.
โIโI donโt know. Iโm just the photographer,โ the paparazzo stammered, clearly unwilling to become further involved.
Melody took a deep breath and handed over the money. โKeep an eye on Debra. If you find out who this man is, Iโll pay you more.โ
โAbsolutely, Iโll keep a close watch on Mrs. Nichols,โ the paparazzo agreed, pocketing the money and leaving.
Looking at the photos on the table, Sophie couldnโt help but ask, โMrs. Nichols Sr., could these photos be fake?โ
โFake? With so many photos? Impossible.โ Melody scoffed. โDebra is nothing but trouble. Juan has been willing to forgive and forget, and this is how she repays him. Keeping a boy toy on the side. And she calls herself a lady from a scholarly family? Bah!โ
Sophie stood silently, not daring to say a word.
โInform Juan to come home immediately. And tell Debra to come back as well.โ Melody couldnโt tolerate Debraโs infidelity. Sophie, though hesitant, quickly called Debra.
In her office, Debra answered Sophieโs call, feeling a mix of surprise and annoyance. Melody had been quiet for a couple of days, but now she was up to something again.
โMadam, Mrs. Nichols Sr. is furious and wants you and Mr. Nichols to come home immediately,โ Sophie said.
โAnd whatโs the reason this time?โ
โSome photos.โ
โPhotos?โ
โYes, photos of you and a man laughing together, and of the man pulling a car full of flowers to your companyโs entrance.โ
Debra realized the man in the photos was Marion. The photos must not have captured his face clearly, or Melody would have recognized him.
โAlright, Iโll be right there.โ
