Chapter 588

As soon as Debra stepped into the Nichols family's house, she heard the sharp sound of shattering glass. A teacup smashed near her feet, shards scattering across the floor.

Glancing up, Debra saw Melody seated on the couch, her face cold with displeasure. Across from her stood Juan, ramrod straight in a sleek black suit, his expression stoic as he endured her scolding.

Melody sneered, her words dripping with sarcasm. โ€œJuan, I know youโ€™re busy with work, but you should also spare a thought for your home. Tell me, how many days has it been since youโ€™ve seen your wife? Sheโ€™s moved out, and you donโ€™t even seem to care. If youโ€™re not careful, one day youโ€™ll wake up to find sheโ€™s run off with someone.โ€

Debra frowned at the cutting remarks. Calmly, she stepped further into the room, offering Melody a polite smile. โ€œGrandma, whatโ€™s gotten you so upset? What happened?โ€

Melody shot her a sideways glance. โ€œI wouldnโ€™t dare let you call me โ€˜Grandma.โ€™ Letโ€™s stick to โ€˜Mrs. Nichols Sr.,โ€™ just like before.โ€

Debra ignored the taunt, her gaze shifting toward Juan. โ€œJuan, whatโ€™s got Grandma so angry? Did you do something to upset her?โ€

Juan glanced at her, a look that clearly said, โ€œItโ€™s about you.โ€

Debra pretended not to understand. She turned back to Melody, her smile unwavering. โ€œGrandma, thereโ€™s no need to be angry. Even though Juan and I live separately now, our relationship is as strong as ever. Juan would never be unfaithful.โ€

She wrapped her arm around Juanโ€™s, a display of affection that irritated Melody even more.

She no longer bothered hiding her distaste. Rising from her seat, she pointed an accusing finger at Debra. โ€œHow dare you stand there and play the loving wife in front of me? Juan treats you so well, and what do you do? You found yourself some pretty boy behind his back.โ€

Debra blinked innocently. โ€œGrandma, you canโ€™t just accuse me like that without any evidence, especially in front of Juan.โ€

โ€œYou want evidence? Fine. Iโ€™ll show you the evidence,โ€ Melody snorted, pulling out a stack of photographs from her handbag.

As the photos fluttered to the floor, a flicker of emotion crossed Juanโ€™s face.

Melody jabbed a finger toward the pictures. โ€œLook at them, Debra. Donโ€™t you feel ashamed?โ€

Debra looked down and smiled. โ€œSo, this is what youโ€™re upset about? Itโ€™s all just a misunderstanding.โ€

โ€œMisunderstanding?โ€ Melodyโ€™s voice grew louder. โ€œYou have the nerve to say that. Now, tell me who this pretty boy is.โ€

Debra held the photos. โ€œDid you send someone to follow me?โ€

Melody stiffened. โ€œIf I hadnโ€™t, how else would I have found out about your dirty secret?โ€

โ€œI understand you donโ€™t like that Juan and I have reconciled. Youโ€™ve been looking for something to prove Iโ€™ve been unfaithful so that I get nothing in the divorce settlement, right?โ€ Debra asked.

Melodyโ€™s face flushed with embarrassment, but she didnโ€™t back down. โ€œIf you did something wrong, losing out in the divorce is your own fault.โ€
