Chapter 635
Marion frowned, his sharp eyes catching something amiss. โNo, this isnโt right.โ
โWhatโs wrong?โ Randy asked, confused.
โThis ring is so small. How could it have been pulled up with a fishing net?โ
A ring like that should have sunk to the bottom of the water, impossible to retrieve by chance. It seemed more like someone had deliberately placed it there, making sure it would be found.
Marionโs instincts flared, and he said, โWhereโs the fisherman who found this ring? Bring him to me.โ
โRight away,โ Randy stammered, finally realizing Marion was right.
It was highly unlikely that a small ring could be caught in a fishing net, and even if it were, no ordinary fisherman would willingly hand over such a valuable item.
Before long, the fisherman was brought before Marion by Randyโs men. Looking at the trembling fisherman, Marion held up the ring. โWho told you to give this ring to me?โ
The fishermanโs hands shook as he avoided Marionโs gaze. โIโI found it. Just pulled it from the sea.โ
โStill lying, huh? Fine.โ Debra raised his hand, prepared to force the truth out of the man.
โMarion, stop,โ Randy intervened, trying to calm the situation. โLetโs talk to him, alright?โ
Marion paused, though his expression was still dark. Randy stepped forward, pulling a photo of Drake from his pocket. He held it up to the fisherman. โWas it this man who sent you to bring the ring?โ
The fishermanโs eyes flickered with fear at the sight of the photo.
โYou donโt have to answer that,โ Randy said softly. โJust tell me. Is she still alive?โ
The fisherman hesitated, his gaze bouncing nervously between Marion and Randy. Finally, with great reluctance, he nodded.
โDebra is alive,โ Randy muttered in relief.
But their joy was short-lived as reality sank back in. If Debra was alive, it meant she was in Drakeโs hands now. And knowing that monster, being alive might be worse than death.
Randy saw the light dimming from Marionโs eyes. โWhat do we do now?โ
Marionโs jaw clenched, his expression turning icy once again. โWe get her back.โ
Chapter 635
Debra woke up in a cold sweat, her body trembling from the lingering terror of the nightmare sheโd just escaped. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. At least, she was still alive.
It was the middle of the night, and despite everything, Drake had arranged for her to stay in a cleaner room. The small space had some basic comforts, including a round window that allowed her a view of the outside.
A maid outside heard the movement and knocked on the door. โMs. Frazier, is everything alright?โ
Debra was about to send the maid away when something made her pause. Her fingers brushed against her left hand where her ring shouldโve been.
Panic shot through her veins as she quickly turned on the light and began frantically searching on the bed. That ring had been a gift from Marion.
Without thinking, she rushed to the door and flung it open. The maid was startled. โMs. Frazier, what happened?โ
โMy things. Where are they?โ
โYour clothes were soaked. Mr. Lowe ordered us to throw them away.โ
โThen whereโs my ring?โ
โRing?โ
Debraโs chest tightened as an ominous thought crossed her mind. Drake had taken her ring to use it as leverage against Marlon or Juan.
