Chapter 636
โMs. Frazier, was that ring something important?โ asked the maid.
Debra forced a calm expression, trying not to give away her emotions. โItโs nothing. Just an expensive piece of jewelry. Since itโs lost, then forget it.โ
โWell, Iโm Lara. If you need anything, just let me know.โ
โDo you know where weโre headed?โ
โWeโre returning to Seamar City. Weโll reach the shore in about three days.โ
That wasnโt surprising. Drake must have business in Seamar City, and that meant Debra needed to find a way to get word to Marion.
The next morning, Debra awoke to the sound of knocking. The doctor had come to administer her medication again. Drakeโs order was clear: Debra should be cured within three days. So, every day, she was subjected to endless treatments: IV drips, injections, and pills.
After examining her, the doctor nodded. โStarting today, you can eat solid food again. No more plain oatmeal. You need better nutrition.โ
โAvoid eating fish, right?โ
โYes.โ
โWell, Iโm starving,โ Debra said, turning to Lara, โPlease prepare lunch for me.โ
โSure,โ Lara said.
Before she could get out, Peter came in with a smirk. โWell, well, Ms. Frazier. Giving orders like you run the place, huh? Donโt forget, youโre just a prisoner here.โ
Lara froze, unsure of what to do. Debra, however, kept her calm. โIn that case, why donโt you go get me something to eat instead?โ
โWhat? Who do you think you are?โ Peter snapped.
Debraโs gaze didnโt falter. โIโm someone your boss considers useful. Drake promised to treat me with respect. Would you rather explain to him why youโre defying his orders? Maybe youโd like to end up as shark food?โ
Peterโs sneer faltered. He knew all too well how unpredictable Drake could be. Grumbling under his breath, he stormed out of the room.
Lara, visibly shaken, whispered, โMs. Frazier, you shouldnโt provoke him. Heโs close to Mr. Lowe andโฆโ
โIโm not afraid of men like him. Theyโre just lapdogs,โ Debra said, leaning close to Lara. โDo you have a phone?โ
Lara shook her head. โI donโt. No one on this ship is allowed to have electronics.โ
Of course, Drake wouldnโt be that careless.
Before Debra could say more, Peter returned with several maids. But when the food was laid out in front of her, she could see oatmeal and pickles.
Debra set down her fork. โIs this all youโre feeding me?โ
Peter folded his arms. โWhat else do you expect?โ
โThe doctor said I need proper food,โ Debra said calmly. โBut I suppose you donโt really care about me getting better.โ
Peterโs face twisted in anger, but he held his tongue. If it were up to him, heโd have already beaten her into submission.
