Chapter 652
The maids recounted the events one after another.
โPeter bumped into Ms. Frazier. We heard her scream for help, but when we tried to intervene, he yelled at us to back off.โ
โI saw him slap Lara and threaten to throw her into the ocean to feed the sharks.โ
โWe saw Peter dragging Ms. Frazier away. She called for help, but Peter drove us away.โ
The maids, who had previously been subservient to him, were all accusing him now.
Color drained from Peterโs face, and he said desperately, โLies! Youโre all lying. I am innocent. These wretches are conspiring against me. Sirโฆโ
Drake narrowed his eyes, sneering, โI gave you a chance. Youโve wasted it.โ
โSir, please donโt,โ Peter pleaded tearfully.
Drake raised his hand, and the two mercenaries stepped forward, grabbing Peterโs arms.
With one final, desperate cry, he was thrown overboard, his voice fading into the night as the waves swallowed him.
The maids huddled together, terrified, as the splash echoed through the quiet sea.
Drake, appearing uninterested in the spectacle, turned on his heel and strode back toward the cabin.
โSir.โ Lara opened the door for him.
The room was empty, and Drake frowned. โWhereโs Debra?โ
โMs. Frazier changed her clothes and returned to her room,โ Lara replied.
โDid I let her leave?โ Drake snorted.
Laraโs heart skipped a beat. โIโll go fetch her right away.โ
โNo need,โ Drake said, his tone cold. โIโll get her myself.โ
โSir!โ
Laraโs protest died on her lips as she watched Drake head down the hall. He stopped at Debraโs door, his sharp ears picking up the faint sound of running water.
โLara, is that you?โ Debraโs voice came from the bathroom, a little strained. โCan you help me with my back? My armโs still sore, and I canโt reach it.โ
Lara rushed up, hesitating only a second before speaking in a low, trembling voice. โMs. Frazier wants me to help with her bath.โ
โGo ahead,โ Drake said before leaving.
Lara slid into the room and heaved a sigh of relief.
Chapter 652
Inside, Debra emerged from the bathroom, fully dressed and dry.
Lara whispered, โThat was way too close. Mr. Lowe almost walked in. If he found out you werenโt bathing but using your phone, heโd have killed you.โ
โHe wasnโt going to come in,โ Debra replied calmly, pulling a phone from her pocket.
Over the last few days, sheโd learned one thing about Drake. For all his threats, he respected boundaries. If he promised her respect, he would honor it, no matter how menacing his words.
Thanks to Lara, Debra had managed to slip away and retrieve Peterโs phone from storage. With it, she could finally contact Marion and the others.
