Chapter 669
โI have some things to take care of. Iโll be leaving now,โ Chace said as he turned to leave the hotel. Drake came up with a cryptic smile.
โYou and heโฆโ
โWhat do you think we are?โ
โWhatever it is, just as long as youโre not planning on running away.โ
โWhy would I? If I wanted to run, I could have left last night.โ
โDonโt play dumb with me. Youโre not running because you know itโs impossible to escape.โ
Debraโs smile faded as she realized Drake had pieced together why sheโd returned to his side that night.
Drake arched a brow. โRelax. As long as you know your place, I donโt care why you came back.โ
Debraโs eyes glinted mischievously. โIโm not sure what makes me so special to you. Are you falling for me?โ
Drake clutched her chin and examined her face. โPretty face,โ he murmured, tilting her head slightly, โbut a brain full of vanity.โ
He let go of her and added, โCome to my room tonight. Thereโs something I need to discuss with you in private.โ
His sudden request caught Debra off guard, her defenses shooting up immediately. But before she could say anything, Drake had already stepped into the elevator.
โMiss, Mr. Lowe asked us to give you this.โ The waitress nearby placed a small box into Debraโs hand and smiled shyly.
Debra looked down, her eyes widening in disbelief. It was a pack of birth control pills.
Her mind raced, and she sought confirmation from the waitress. โAre you sure this is what Mr. Lowe ordered?โ
โYes, he found us and ordered it.โ
Debra stared at the box in her hand, feeling a rush of regret. She had thought he wasnโt this shallow. Now she realized he was not only shallow but also lascivious.
When no one was paying attention, she tossed the pills into the trash and marched to the front desk. โCould I use your phone for a moment?โ
The receptionist nodded and handed her the phone.
Debra hesitated. โCan I borrow your cell phone?โ
โSure.โ The receptionist handed over her phone.
Debra quickly dialed Marionโs phone number. Among all her contacts, his was the only number she could remember. He answered almost immediately. His voice sounded tired.
โHello?โ
โItโs me.โ
As soon as she said those two words, all the pent-up emotions welled up inside Debra. For so long, she had been putting on a brave face. But the moment she heard Marionโs voice, she felt her defenses crumble.
Marion was thrilled to hear her voice.
โDebra? Is that you?โ
โIโm at the Flesta Grand Hotel. Come here as soon as possible. Drakeโฆโ
โMs. Frazier, what are you doing?โ A cold voice sliced through the air, freezing Debra on the spot. She looked up and saw Kale glaring at her with icy detachment.
