Chapter 710
Over the past few months, Shelia had immersed herself in the world of fashion, thanks to her time with the Blair family. She now had a decent grasp of fabrics, styles, and trends.
When the staff member handed the chosen fabric to the manager, the latter asked, โWhat style did Mr. Blair choose?โ
The staff member replied, โShe hasnโt chosen a style yet, but weโre about to show her some options.โ
Debra glanced at the satin and said to the manager, โDidnโt she say she liked the dress Iโm wearing? Just show her my style.โ
The manager hesitated. โBut the gown youโre wearing is a fishtail design. If we use the stiff silk satin she chose, it might not work well.โ
Debraโs gown was made from soft chiffon, which flowed beautifully and accentuated the fishtail shape. Sheliaโs satin, on the other hand, was stiff and not suited for such a delicate design.
โWell, thatโs what she requested,โ Debra said. โMaybe we think it wonโt look good, but who knows? She might think otherwise. Besides, the customerโs always right, isnโt that so?โ
The manager immediately caught on to Debraโs meaning and whispered instructions to the staff. They brought over a selection of dresses, showcasing several popular styles.
Right in the center was the fishtail gown, identical to the one Debra wore. Sheliaโs eyes lit up as soon as she spotted it.
โIs this the same as the one sheโs wearing?โ
โYes, though this design is complex, and the price reflects that.โ
Knowing she could have the same dress as Debra but hers would be made from more expensive materials, Shelia was more than pleased. She turned to Melody for approval.
โGrandma, do you like this one?โ
โIf youโve set your mind on it, thatโs fine. But remember you represent the Nichols family. We canโt afford to look bad.โ
The staff member chimed in, โMs. Blair, do you have any other requests? If not, Iโll have the designer draw up the plans for you to review.โ
โThe sample dress will have diamonds embedded, right?โ
โYes, butโฆโ
โThen I want diamonds on mine as well. Money is not an issue.โ
She handed over the design to the staff member, who was thrilled to land such a big order. She eagerly took note of Sheliaโs demands and told the manager.
Debra listened quietly, but Erica wasnโt so cool. โShelia has overstepped the mark. Sheโs trying to one-up us. Iโm calling Caleb to make sure our dresses are better.โ
As Erica reached for her phone, Debra quickly stopped her with a wink.
While Erica was confused, Debra turned to the manager. โGo ahead and finish the gown. Iโm satisfied with it. Itโs time for me to leave.โ
The manager escorted them out.
Shelia cast a triumphant glance in Debraโs direction, as if declaring her victory.
Debra ignored her provocation, knowing Shelia wouldnโt be smiling by the time the engagement party rolled around.
