Chapter 725

Debra jolted awake, her heart pounding in her chest. Darkness pressed in from all sides, an oppressive silence enveloping the room. Drakeโ€™s mocking voice echoed in her mind: โ€œImagine Marionโ€™s reaction when he finds out Iโ€™ve taken you.โ€

Reality sank in like a stone. She flung the covers off, attempting to rise, when a wave of dizziness hit her hard. Drake had injected her with something on the plane. Whatever it was, it had drained her of every ounce of strength.

Suddenly, the lights flickered on, flooding the room with a harsh brightness. Debra blinked rapidly, her vision slowly adjusting as she took in her surroundings. The room was massive and suffocating in its opulence, decked out in elaborate Baroque style. Complex carvings adorned the walls, and oversized portraits loomed down from above, making the air oppressive.

A voice broke her trance. โ€œMs. Frazier, our boss has asked me to help you change clothes.โ€

Startled, Debra turned sharply toward the doorway. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Standing there was none other than Lara, whom she had trusted with the evidence of Drakeโ€™s crimes.

โ€œItโ€™s you,โ€ Debraโ€™s voice came out hoarse. When she was abducted by Drake last time, she entrusted everything to Lara and sent her to Seamar City. She initially thought Lara had missed connecting with Marion. She had even asked Ben to search for Lara, but to no avail. She never imagined that Lara would reappear by Drakeโ€™s side.

Laraโ€™s expression was unreadable as she stepped closer. โ€œMs. Frazier, please change and follow me. Our boss is waiting for you in the hall.โ€

โ€œBoss?โ€ The word hung in the air, a grim confirmation of Laraโ€™s betrayal. Debraโ€™s stomach dropped. She used to think Lara was an innocent girl. It turned out she was dead wrong.

โ€œYou were working for Drake all along?โ€ Debra asked. She rarely misjudged people, but this time, she had misplaced her trust.

Lara averted her gaze and bit her lip. โ€œJust give up, Ms. Frazier. This is Orkgate and Mr. Loweโ€™s territory. No one can get you out.โ€

She stood up and walked to the door. Seeing the simple white nightgown laid out on the bed, Debra felt a strong sense of revulsion. She wondered what Drake was up to.

Minutes later, a soft knock came at the door. โ€œMs. Frazier, are you ready?โ€

When there was no response from inside, Lara frowned. Just as she was about to open the door, Debra came out with a poker face. Lara knew Debra was angry with her, so she didnโ€™t try to explain herself.

โ€œOur boss has prepared breakfast for you.โ€

โ€œOh, really. How thoughtful of him!โ€

Debra felt weak and unsteady on her feet as she followed Lara downstairs. In the hall, Drake was sitting at the long table. There were only two dishes. Drake was facing a simple fried egg and toast while another dish, covered with a cloche, was in front of Debraโ€™s seat.
