Debra quickly thought on her feet. “If you don’t believe me, you can ask Harland. It’s my first time here. I was just trying to find the restroom, but this place is enormous. Could you tell me where it is?”

The mention of Harland made the guard hesitate. He lowered the walkie-talkie, glancing back at Debra, who looked genuinely lost. He pointed ahead. “It’s right ahead on the left.”

“Thank you,” Debra said, her eyes lingering on the elevator door. If she didn’t gather some information tonight, she might miss her chance. She made a quick decision and turned back to the guard.

“Oh, by the way, you mentioned something about swiping a card earlier. Does this elevator need a special card to use?”

The guard shot her a sideways glance. “Only VIPs with a gold card can go upstairs. No card, no entry.”

Feigning curiosity, Debra asked, “What’s upstairs? Is it fun? Can I get one from Harland?”

The guard’s demeanor softened. “I can’t say for sure, but you could ask him if you’re interested.”

Debra smiled again, maintaining her charm. “Thanks. I’ll ask him later.”

As she walked away, she spotted Harland around the corner, searching for her. She steadied her nerves and approached him, feigning innocence. “Harland, is everything okay?”

“Ms. Frazier, where have you been?” Harland Bruce asked, flustered. “I’ve been looking for you.”

“I’m so sorry. I was trying to find the restroom and ended up getting lost,” Debra explained.

Harland let out a relieved sigh. “All walks of life mingle here. It’s best not to wander around. If anything happened, I’d have a hard time explaining it to Mr. Lowe.”

“Okay, it won’t happen again,” she promised.

Harland dismissed the guards, and Debra added, “Oh, by the way, I passed by an elevator earlier, and the guard was super strict, asking all these questions. What’s upstairs, anyway? They were acting like they were guarding some big secret.”

“I’ll talk to them, letting them know you’re with Mr. Lowe and deserve their respect,” Harland said. “But they’re just doing their job. The upstairs area is restricted to VIPs with gold cards.”

“That’s intriguing,” Debra said, seizing the moment. “Do you think I could go up and take a peek?”

Harland hesitated, weighing his words. “I’m afraid I don’t have access to it. Only gold cardholders can enter. Maybe Mr. Lowe can bring you up. It will be much safer with him around.”

“Okay, I’ll ask him next time,” Debra replied, though her mind buzzed with possibilities.

Harland was the manager of the casino, yet he didn’t have access upstairs. It was hard to imagine what kind of people held such privileges.

Drake’s car was parked outside the villa. Kale came out and opened the car door, only to find Drake alone with the driver.
