Chapter 84
Juan felt a burning anger. โIf she wants to leave, then let her go!โ Shelia stopped sobbing and looked up pitifully. โCan I really stay at your house to recuperate?โ
Juan rubbed her head. โIโll have Joe get your things from your dormitory. Itโs inconvenient to stay at school while recovering. Just stay at my house.โ Shelia sniffled, leaning against Juanโs chest. โThank you, Mr. Nichols.โ
Joe frowned, observing with concern. He could see through Sheliaโs pretense, but Juan seemed oblivious. Debra arranged for a moving company to remove her belongings from the Nichols family house.
That evening, Juan brought Shelia home to noticeably sparse furnishings and a somewhat desolate atmosphere. He felt a pang of discomfort. Shelia asked, โMr. Nichols, where will I be staying?โ
โWe have guest rooms upstairs.โ
Shelia nodded, then hesitated. โMy leg hurts. I canโt go up myself.โ
โIโll help you,โ Juan said gently. Shelia reveled in her happiness. Despite the danger and unexpected injury from the car accident, she felt it was worthwhile because of Juanโs care and his hostility toward Debra.
Upon reaching the second floor, she noticed the master bedroom and asked, โIs this the master bedroom?โ Normally, that was Debraโs domain. Juan nodded, and Shelia said, โCan I stay closer to you, Mr. Nichols? Itโll be inconvenient if I need to come downstairs at night.โ
โOkay.โ He wouldnโt refuse Sheliaโs reasonable requests. Shelia glanced at the master bedroom again, a hint of greed flickering in her eyes. One day, she would be living there as the hostess of the Nichols family.
The next day, news of Juan causing a scene at the launch spread quickly. Debra leisurely browsed the news on her phone, while Erica exploded with anger. โDamn it! Seeing such unsettling news first thing in the morning, arenโt you angry?โ
โSurprisingly, when things blow up, I donโt get angry,โ Debra replied.
โWhy?โ Erica asked, puzzled.
Debra explained, โJuanโs antics at the banquet, disregarding everyone present, are sure to spread. The news will reach his grandmother very soon.โ
Erica didnโt understand. โSo?โ
โLast night at the hospital, I proposed moving out and Shelia moving in to recuperate. Sheโll definitely seize this opportunity. Maybe sheโs even spent the night there. Do you think the old lady would tolerate her grandson behaving like this?โ
Erica realized. โI see!โ
Debra added, โFurthermore, Juan being so reckless for Sheliaโs sake means Melody will see her as nothing but a burden dragging Juan down and wonโt let her stay by his side.โ
