Chapter 83

โ€œWe?โ€ Juan chuckled mockingly. โ€œDo you mean Marion and you?โ€

Debra frowned. Juan approached, his steps carrying an oppressive aura. โ€œLast time at the hotel, were you with Marion and Randy? Was Erica just covering for you? What exactly is your relationship with Marion? How far has it progressed?โ€

He seized her wrist, his eyes boring into hers. Debra instinctively shook his hand off. โ€œEnough! I have no idea what youโ€™re talking about!โ€

Juan looked at his hand, saying, โ€œPray that Sheliaโ€™s face can be restored. Otherwise, donโ€™t blame me for taking action against them.โ€

A scream erupted from inside Sheliaโ€™s ward. Almost instinctively, Juan pushed the door open and saw Shelia smashing a glass. By the time Debra entered, Shelia had already grabbed Juanโ€™s arm, leaning into his embrace. โ€œAm I disfigured? My face is ruined.โ€

โ€œAlright, calm down. The doctor said you need to stabilize your emotions, or the freshly stitched wounds might reopen,โ€ Juan gently reassured her.

Sheliaโ€™s forehead and arms were scarred. When she looked up at Debra, her eyes burned with resentment. Pointing at Debra, she accused, โ€œI didnโ€™t offend you. Why did you do this to me? You were behind this.โ€

Debra silently watched Sheliaโ€™s outburst. Initially thinking it was just an accident, Debra now felt there might be more to it. She held Sheliaโ€™s hand, soothingly saying, โ€œShelia, calm down. Let me handle this. Focus on recovering.โ€

โ€œJuan, I just wanted to apologize to Miss Mathis. I donโ€™t know when I offended Debra. She and Erica humiliated me multiple times. I really donโ€™t know what I did wrong. If Iโ€™m disfigured, I donโ€™t want to live anymore.โ€

Her tear-streaked face pained Juan. He turned to Debra with disgust, just as in her previous life. โ€œGet out! Donโ€™t let me see you again!โ€

Joe stepped forward, advising, โ€œMadam, itโ€™s better to leave for now.โ€

Glancing at Shelia one last time, Debra saw a triumphant smile as she nestled in Juanโ€™s arms. This smile carried a challenge. Debra sneered and left the ward.

Joe followed, saying, โ€œMr. Nichols is just in a momentary fit of anger. Please donโ€™t take it to heart.โ€

โ€œTell him Iโ€™m moving out today. Shelia can stay in the house to recover for as long as she needs,โ€ Debra said.

Returning to the ward, Joe saw Shelia still sobbing in Juanโ€™s arms. He passed on Debraโ€™s message.
