Chapter 939
โSilly,โ Debra murmured, reaching up to pinch Marionโs cheek. โWhy do you have a beard now?โ
Marion took her hand in his. โWho do you think has been standing guard outside the Lowe Mansion all this time?โ
โYou havenโt left at all?โ
โNot even for a moment.โ
โWhat about bathroom breaks?โ
โI have my ways.โ
Debra chuckled and nestled into his arms, feeling exhausted. โNow I know why Iโve been sleeping so well these past few days. Itโs because youโve been watching over me.โ
Her soft hair brushed against his chest, tickling him. His throat bobbed, his voice growing husky. โSince Iโve been so good, donโt I deserve a reward?โ
โYes, you do.โ Debra paused. โBut you men suggested killing people and smashing cameras. Donโt you thinkโฆ Ah, put me down.โ
Marion simply scooped her up and carried her inside.
โMarion!โ Debra protested, her cheeks flushing.
He set her down on the sofa, looking at her with a soft smile. โNo fuss. Iโll go run you a hot bath.โ
โBedtime prep?โ Debra quipped.
Marion flicked her forehead. โYouโre naughty.โ
โIsnโt that what youโre preparing for?โ
โI just thought you might have had a rough time. Did Drake make you suffer?โ
โDid I suffer?โ
Debra thought for a moment. The food was better than any five-star restaurant. The bed was more comfortable than any presidential suite, and she even found amusement in messing with Drake. But without Marion, every day felt like a struggle.
She saw Marionโs worried expression and put on a pitiful face. โYeah, it was tough. Look, Iโve lost weight.โ
She twirled in front of him, and he said, โIโll go teach him a lesson.โ
He stood up, ready to storm out.
โWait. I was just kidding.โ Debra grabbed his arm. โDrake wouldnโt dare treat me badly. He fed me well, and I gained weight.โ
โSo, did you lose weight or gain weight?โ
โGained, really.โ
During her stay at the Lowe Mansion, despite Drakeโs threats, she had been treated like a queen, except for that one bowl of plain soup.
โAlright, Iโll let him off this time. But next time, he wonโt be so lucky.โ
Debra smiled. โThe one who needs a bath to relax isnโt me. Itโs you.โ
She reached up and touched his beard. โEvery time Iโm not by your side, you let yourself go. Remember last time? I had to shave you. What would you do without me?โ
โDonโt say that,โ Marion said, covering her mouth with his hand. โThere wonโt be a time when youโre not by my side. And I wonโt let you be alone again.โ
