Chapter 115
โPeople canโt help but want to protect her at all costs,โ someone said.
โMany call me cruel and cold-blooded, yet they wouldn't believe I want to protect her,โ another voice replied.
โItโs okay. The thing you feared didn't happen last night. I arrived just in time,โ Jason said.
โIt really was himโฆ who saved me!โ
Grace raised her head, dazedly staring at the face inches from hers. โBut why did you save me?โ she thought. โHe didnโt even come to town with me yesterday!โ
โSister, you called me,โ he replied with a faint smile. โI rescued you. Luckily, I got there in time.โ
โAfter a single phone call, he traveled over a hundred kilometers to save me?!โ
Grace felt an indescribable shock.
He carried her to the bed and carefully tucked her under the covers. โYour hand was cut by the mirror shard. Itโll probably take a few days to heal. If thereโs a scar, Iโll find the best doctors to remove it.โ
Only then did Grace notice the bandage on her right hand. So distracted by the shocking revelations, she hadnโt realized the dull pain.
โHow much of yesterday do you remember, Sister?โ Jason asked seriously.
Grace bit her lip, not trying to hide anything. She relayed the events of the previous evening to Jason without reservation.
Jasonโs expression darkened. โHer relativesโฆ they sold her to a fool! They have guts!โ he exclaimed. โIf anyone dares to scheme against her, I wonโt let them get away!โ
Just then, Jasonโs phone rang. He frowned at the caller ID, then turned to Grace. โI lied about my identity. Apologize however you like, but youโre hospitalized now; take care of yourself. Iโll get the doctor.โ
Leaving the room, Jason instructed Terrence, who had been keeping watch outside: โGrace is awake. Call the doctor.โ
Only then did he answer his phone. Mr. Reedโs voice boomed, โWhy the delay?โ
โIโm busy,โ Jason replied calmly.
โRelated to the woman you saved?โ Mr. Reed asked frankly.
Jason wasnโt surprised Mr. Reed knew. Heโd been pressed for time the previous night and had informed the townโs police. Heโd mobilized their forces, and Graceโs relatives and the others were still at the police station. The Old Masterโs investigation had been simple.
โWhatโs your relationship with her?โ Mr. Reedโs tone turned cold.
โIโm protecting her,โ Jason replied lazily. โDonโt touch her.โ
โDonโt forget how your father died!โ The Old Masterโs voice rose. โDo you want to follow in his footsteps?โ
Jasonโs expression darkened. โDadโs past is taboo to me!โ
โI havenโt forgotten,โ Jason replied coldly. โGrandpa, Iโm not like Father. I wouldnโt risk everything for a woman, so donโt worry!โ
