Chapter 124
โThis reporter seems unaware that Miss Cummins has been imprisoned before. He only knows her name and reckons he can write a tabloid article about you,โ Terrence said.
Jason said coldly, โContinue to interrogate him. Release him only after youโve got all the information you need. He mentioned seeing a social media post about this. Find out who posted it and who saw it!โ
โGot it,โ Terrence replied.
When Jason opened the ward door and saw Grace eating her porridge, he wondered if the reporter had stumbled upon news of their relationship.
โWas it a coincidence we were discovered last night, orโฆ was there something else?โ
Grace looked up. Jasonโs face had darkened; he seemed unhappy, and she stared in amazement. Then, as suddenly as it appeared, his unhappy aura vanished. A smile broke out on his handsome face, and he resumed his usual demeanor.
โSis, why are you staring at me?โ Jason asked.
She shook her head. โOh, itโs nothing.โ
In that brief moment, Grace felt as if she didnโt recognize him. Could this be his true self? When he smiled, he looked like an angel, but it could all be an act.
Ever since Zoe discovered Jason was the man behind Graceโs injury, sheโd been unlucky. This meant she couldn't get revenge on the person who broke her leg! Her social group mocked her after her hospital admission. If she didnโt recover, the mockery would continue for life.
She blamed Grace. If not for her, Zoe wouldnโt be in this state.
Although Grace and Jason were together, sheโd kept it quiet. Zoe suspected Grace had done so deliberately, feigning a disadvantageous position to manipulate her, then using Jason for revenge.
The more Zoe thought about it, the angrier she became. That day, her friends booked a private room to alleviate her boredom. However, she couldnโt fully enjoy herself, having to use crutches.
Leaving the private room, she saw a group of people approaching. One of them looked familiar.
The man at the head of the group smiled, walked over, and said, โMiss Stevens, Iโm surprised to see you here. Injured your leg? We should have visitedโฆโ
He continued fawning, but Zoe couldnโt place him. Finally, he said, โIโm the director of the FY Secondary Design Research Institute. We do business with the Stevens Group. Iโve seen you at your company gatherings.โ
Although Zoe couldn't recall meeting him, she knew the Fangyan Design Research Institute. It was a small institute. Because of a connection between the institute's director and a Stevens Group relative, the Stevens Group sometimes gave them less important design jobs.
โAre you having a gathering? May I join you?โ Zoe asked.
The director was overjoyed. โOf course! It would be wonderful to have you!โ
