Chapter 123

After Grace washed up, Jason carried her back to bed, where she saw her meal had been served. Although it was simple—porridge and a few other dishes—it looked appetizing. Grace's stomach growled loudly.

"The doctor recommended easily digestible food," Jason said, placing the dishes on the overbed table. If anyone had witnessed the scene, they would have been astonished. Mr. Reed, the powerful figure of Emerald City, was attending to a woman.

Grace took her utensils and began eating. As she lowered her head, her long hair kept falling into her porridge. Just as she reached for a hairband, Jason, ever one step ahead, said, "Let me do it." He produced a hairband and comb from beside the table.

Recognizing the logo on the hairband, Grace knew it was designer. Before her imprisonment, she had bought several accessories from that brand, when her income allowed. She hadn't expected Jason to be so attentive to such a detail.

"Do you know how to do this?" she asked.

"I've seen you do it every day," Jason replied.

He combed her hair before tying it up. While not perfectly skillful, he did a good job.

Suddenly, someone knocked.

"Come in," Jason said.

Terrence entered, stunned by the sight.

"Mr. Reedcombing a woman's hair?!" he exclaimed. Mr. Reed had never shown such attention to the women who pursued him, let alone combed their hair. Yet, he seemed willing to do anything for Grace.

Grace, surprised by Jason's actions, felt embarrassed upon seeing Terrence's expression. She was realizing that Jason was combing her hair!

"What's up?" Jason asked, continuing to comb her hair gently.

"It's" Terrence hesitated.

Jason, understanding this wasn't for Grace's ears, finished combing her hair and said, "Sis, enjoy your meal. I'm going out for a while."

Once outside the ward, Terrence explained, "Security caught a reporter trying to sneak in. He learned Miss Cummins was admitted and came looking for a story."

Jason narrowed his eyes. "A scoop? How did he find out Grace was here?"

"Someone posted on social media about you carrying Miss Cummins to the hospital last night," Terrence replied.

Jason asked coldly, "Was he trying to dig up news about me or Grace?"
