Chapter 128

โ€œActually, Iโ€™m not too sure,โ€ Lina said, โ€œbut I just ran into Zoe. She mentioned Jason supporting you, and seemed to think you were together. However, the only man whoโ€™s appeared beside you is Jay. So, I wondered if โ€˜Jayโ€™ could actually be Jason?โ€

Jayโ€™s appearance didnโ€™t suggest homelessness. Conversely, finding photos of Jason online was impossible. I searched earlier and only found distant or rear shots; nothing showing his face clearly.

Grace felt Linaโ€™s voice fading. She knew Jay wasnโ€™t ordinaryโ€”perhaps very wealthy and influential. They were from different worlds. But she never imagined Jay could be Jason.

Thatโ€™s right, Jayโ€ฆ why hadnโ€™t she considered it?! Jay was Jason. Compared to Jennifer Atkinson, who died in a car accident, Jason had caused her far greater trauma.

Others always said sheโ€™d caused Jasonโ€™s girlfriend's death and deserved to suffer. They were currying favor with Jason, making her miserable because heโ€™d said, โ€œLet her stay well in prison.โ€ โ€œStay wellโ€โ€”thatโ€™s why theyโ€™d kept her โ€œwell.โ€

โ€œGrace, are you listening?โ€ Lina asked, noticing the silence. She knew what โ€œJayโ€ meant to Grace. If Jay was Jason, it would be devastating. But Lina didnโ€™t want her friend kept in the dark or treated as a fool, so she made the call.

โ€œIโ€ฆ Iโ€™m listening,โ€ Grace said, her voice trembling. She could barely hold the phone. โ€œLinaโ€ฆ Iโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll call you later.โ€

It took all her strength to finish the sentence.

โ€œOh, okay. Grace, donโ€™tโ€ฆ donโ€™t be too sad,โ€ Lina replied, offering the only comfort she could.

After the call, Grace stared through the glass door at his silhouette. She had seen Jasonโ€™s back online and thought it resembled Jayโ€™s. They were the same person; of course their backs were similar!

โ€œI was so stupid!โ€

She silently opened the glass doorโ€ฆ

Meanwhile, Jason was on the phone with Patrick.

โ€œWhat kind of woman makes you ditch your familyโ€™s patriarch on Thanksgiving to rescue her in another town?โ€ Patrick asked, curious.

โ€œHow do you know this?โ€ Jason replied.

โ€œI ran into the police stationโ€™s deputy director earlier. I overheard him talking about it.โ€
