Chapter 127

She was stronger than she had been on the first day. Her phone rang intermittently with calls from her mother's relatives. Their intentions varied. Some sought forgiveness for their uncles, hoping she would drop the case. Others inquired about the "big shot" who had removed her from the Miller family that dayโ€”an event witnessed by many neighbors due to the numerous police cars surrounding the house. Still others asked to borrow money, assuming her connection to this influential person meant she was wealthy and obligated to help relatives.

Grace was speechless. Even she didn't know the true identity of "Jay." However, from these calls, she pieced together details Jay hadn't revealed, understanding how she had been rescued that night.

Leaving the ward, she told her nurse, "You don't have to follow me. I want to walk alone." She found the constant attention awkward. The nurse agreed. The bodyguards stationed at the ward door remained silent; Grace had walked the corridor several times that morning.

Near the stairwell exit, she saw Jay through the glass door. He stood aside, making a phone call, a cigarette in hand, leaning casually against the wall. From her vantage point, she saw his elegant neck, narrow shoulders, slender legs, and well-fitting suit. Even his casual stance seemed like a magazine photoshoot.

She had planned to buy him a suit, curious to see him in one, but hadn't expected this. Then, her phone rangโ€”a call from Lina.

"Lina, what's wrong?" Grace asked.

"Grace, are you with Jay?" Lina asked, the name seemingly difficult to utter.

"Yes," Grace replied.

"Is he with you now?" Lina asked anxiously.

"He's not here," Grace said, her gaze fixed on the figure behind the glass. He was still on the phone, unaware of her presence. Her eyes drifted to the cigarette between his fingers. She hadn't known he smoked; he'd never done so around her. But considering his likely wealthy background, it wasn't surprising. His manner of holding the cigarette, however, was unexpectedly elegantโ€”the most handsome she'd ever seen.

"Grace, do you know 'Jay' is probably Jason Reed?" Lina asked.

"What?!" Grace exclaimed, feeling stunned. Her eyes remained fixed on the figure. Jay? Jason Reed? It was impossible! How could they be the same person?
