Chapter 185
He flipped her over and pinned her beneath him. "It's not enough far from it," he murmured, his fingers gently caressing her face. Her alluringly drunken demeanor was like a budding rose—beautiful and captivating. Her eyes shimmered like autumn dew when she looked at him. Her smile when she called him Jay, her hands around his neck, her fresh, sweet scent filling his senses—all intoxicated him.
"Looks like I shouldn't have said anything about not touching a drunk woman," he murmured. This was his first such transgression, and it was all because of her.
He lowered his head and kissed her, their bodies shifting and turning. It felt nostalgic, and he was loath to leave. His physical desire, aroused by her, could only be satisfied by her. His body seemed to react only to her.
He didn't know how long they kissed before they stopped. He found she had fallen asleep. "What the" A rare helplessness washed over him. Moments ago, she'd been playing with fire, and now she was asleep, leaving him hanging.
His dark eyes stared at her. After a time, Jason sighed and pulled the covers over Grace before sitting by the bed.
"You owe me, you know that?" he mumbled, his voice fading into the air. The small room was no longer cold; the air felt warm.
When Grace woke, she saw Jason by her bedside and was flabbergasted.
"Why are you here?" she stammered.
"Do you think you could have gotten home alone after drinking so much?" he asked.
Grace suddenly recalled drinking copious amounts of wine the previous night. Her memories only extended to her time in the private room.
"So, after you sent me home, you didn't go home?" She was perplexed. He didn't sit here all night, did he?
"Nope. I stayed and looked after you. So, you think you owe me a thank you?"
"Thank you," she said, slightly bewildered. He'd encouraged her drinking the night before, yet now expected gratitude. "By the way, will you release my uncle and the others?"
She was reminded of her reason for drinking. She looked at him earnestly and nervously, fearing his refusal.
He chuckled. "I've asked Terrence to handle it. They should be released soon."
Relief washed over her. Once Uncle and the others are released, Grandmother's illness should improve.
