Chapter 188

For someone like him, the gloves should be custom-made by a luxury brand! He watched her blank stare and added, "Consider this your thank-you gift for releasing your relatives."

She looked embarrassed. "But I no longer have the measurements." She had used a measuring tape to measure his hands, but later discarded the measurements since she hadn't planned to finish the gloves.

"If you've lost them, measure again," he said.

She had no choice but to take out the measuring tape, sit beside him, and measure his hands. Inevitably, their hands touched. Each time, she was careful to minimize contact, holding the tape gingerly with two fingers.

He chuckled at her actions. "Yesterday you hugged and kissed me, but now you're avoiding me. Why? Is touching me so difficult?"

Grace's face reddened. "I I was drunk."

"So you only touch me when you're drunk?" He stared at her.

She paused, meeting his seemingly mocking gaze. Unsure what to say, she remained silent. He closed his eyes, hiding the gleam in them.

"Sis, one day you'll touch me willingly. I won't force you to stay, but believe me, one day you'll beg to."

His crisp, cold voice, seemingly casual, struck Grace like thunder, making her heart pound.

Willingly touch him. Willingly stay by his side.

How is that possible?! We're from different worlds. Furthermore… Jason… those words… immeasurable pain…

Grace arrived at the Sanitation Service Center in the afternoon. Claire Watts noticed Grace looked pale and weak and asked if she'd taken half a day off because she was unwell. Grace forced a smile, saying she had family issues.

She felt conflicted about the gloves.

That evening, her family called to inform her that her uncle and others had been released and had visited her grandmother, who was slightly improved. They requested Grace return home for the weekend to discuss her grandmother's condition.

After hanging up, Grace felt heavy-hearted. Her only concern was her grandmother. She had to go back that weekend.

Over the next few days, Jason didn't appear, which relieved her. She continued working on the gloves, using his measurements. Though Jason hadn't set a deadline, she wanted to finish them quickly. Unfortunately, she'd never knitted gloves before and kept making mistakes, constantly having to unravel and redo sections.
