Chapter 230
She nibbled her lip and sat down, her uninjured right hand holding the chopsticks. She ate mouthful by mouthful.
He sat quietly beside her, hand cupping his chin as he watched her. Under the lamplight, the curl of her eyelashes was accentuated when she lowered her eyelids. His hands seemed large enough to completely cover her face.
Her delicate nose and constantly moving cheeks as she chewed made her look like a small animal eating; an indescribable cuteness. He hadn't realized watching a woman eat could be so captivating.
The more he looked at her, the more he wanted to hide herโto keep her where no one could see her, where only he could look at her and approach her. No one else could possess her.
Grace, eating with her head down, felt Jason's gaze constantly upon her. An awkward tension filled the air. Her face grew hotter, and even swallowing became difficult. It wasn't as if he hadn't seen her eat before, but this moment felt different; warm, yet without discomfort.
She sped up, trying to finish her meal quickly. Then, he suddenly asked, "Sis, do you like Brian?"
Poof!
The food she hadn't swallowed burst from her mouth. She coughed, looking down at the tableโhe was covered in the rice she had just expelled.
"I'm I'm so sorry," she stammered, hastily wiping the rice from his clothes.
He casually took her hand. "Sis, you haven't answered my question. Do you like Brian?"
She stared blankly. Did she like Brian? Why was he asking? And how did he know she knew him? She'd never mentioned him! Doubt flooded her mind.
Her silence made his brows furrow. His fingers brushed lightly against her lips.
"Do you like him?" His voice was soft, gentle yet dangerous.
"I I have nothing to do with him. Why do you ask?" She tried to turn her head away from his fingers.
His fingers immediately grasped her jaw, firmly holding her face. He lowered his head and kissed her lightly. "Is there really nothing? If there's nothing, why did he carry you to the lounge on set today?"
She looked at him, surprised. He knew!
"Wondering how I know, Sis?" He smiled gently. "Is it so strange, with so many people around?"
