Chapter 231
As he finished his sentence, his lips moved closer to hers, almost touching. Grace's face flushed. "Don't" she said, flustered.
He paused, his eyes fixed on her. "Then tell me how you know him."
"Someone stole his bracelet. The thief bumped into me, and it fell into my shirt pocket. He wanted it back, that's how I met him," Grace said hurriedly.
"Is that so?" he muttered. "How many times have you two met since?"
She hadn't counted. However, seeing Jason's approaching face, she quickly calculated and said, "Four times. Once, he thanked me for the bracelet by inviting me to dinner. Another time was at the courthouse, another at the hospital where my grandmother was, and most recently, on a film set where I was an extra."
His eyes glinted. Knowing Brian, if he'd wanted to thank her for the bracelet, he would have used money, not taken her to dinner. Did Brian have feelings for her, too? Why Grace? Brian had recently started dating Evelyn. Previously, he wouldn't have been interested in another woman. Now an exception seemed to have been made.
"Do you like him?" he asked, returning to his earlier question.
"I told you I have nothing to do with him. He's the crown prince of the entertainment industry; I'm a sanitation worker. We're worlds apart." Jason's question seemed meaningless to her.
"Don't I have a crush on you, too?" Jason chuckled, kissing the corner of her mouth, sucking up a stray grain of rice. "What if Brian is attracted to you? Would you like him?"
Grace stiffened, her blood boiling. She was momentarily speechless.
"Well?" He nibbled the rice. "Would you like him or not?"
She placed her hands on his chest but couldn't push him away. "No I won't" she said anxiously, hoping to end his teasing.
"You can't lie to me," he murmured, his voice low and resonant. "Never like Brian, all right?"
Her body tensed. His voice was beautiful, but chillingly warning. If she ever liked Brian, she'd be doomed. Jason had pretended to be on her side, but he'd been playing her like a fool. Now he was telling her not to lie. How ridiculous.
"I don't like him now, but I don't know if I ever" She opened her mouth to defy him, her only remaining resistance. Before she could finish, he kissed her, silencing her.
