Chapter 236

She should be afraid of him, right? He could easily sense her pain and embarrassment. His words could easily destroy her. However, why did she feel so out of control when he was near, breathing in her ear? This man was overwhelming. Even if he called her "sis," she was merely a pawn, a chess piece for his amusement.

Jason looked down, picking up a picture frame from the bedside table. He gazed at the person in the picture—apricot eyes looking ahead, lips curving into a light smile. Her beautiful face radiated peace and elegance. It was as if he had acquired something unexpected.

"Sis," he murmured softly, tracing the person's lips in the frame. Then, unable to restrain himself, he kissed the picture. Just now… if she hadn't been so stiff, if fear hadn't flickered in her eyes, he might have kissed her. He chose, however, to suppress his desires. Why? Was it because he scared her? He had already frightened her at the rented house; he couldn't bear to do so again.

He gently closed his eyes, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Grace thought she wouldn't sleep at all, but she slept soundly, fearing she might sleep forever. Perhaps the day's events had exhausted her.

She checked her phone. 5:00 AM. She needed to be at the Sanitation Service Center by 6:00 AM. Grace quickly changed and washed.

Emerging from the bathroom, she found Jason sitting on her dresser, playing with her phone.

"Going to work, Sis?" he asked.

"Yes," Grace replied, retrieving her phone and putting it in her bag. She picked up her bag to leave.

"Let's have breakfast together," he said, clasping her wrist.

"I'll be late for work," she urged.

He smiled. "If I say you'll be on time, then you will be on time!"

She gasped.

They reached the dining room downstairs, where Grace was surprised to find breakfast already served.
