Chapter 240

Grace felt like a panda under a spotlight.

"Hmm? Does Sis really want me to send you?" His voice echoed in her ears.

She blushed, quickly replying, "No." She hurried back to her room and shut the door.

Jason smiled faintly, then resumed his usual expression. He sat down, reconnecting the audio system.

"Let's proceed with the meeting," he said lightly, seemingly ignoring the curious glances.

"Jason, is this the woman who called you during our last meeting?" someone asked, unable to resist his curiosity.

Jason raised an eyebrow. "Why? Do you want to know?"

The man shivered, offering a dry smile. "Then we'll just proceed with the meeting."

Though it was a business meeting, a whisper circulated: their president seemed to be living with a woman!

Evelyn was surprised to find Grace's rented house empty. No lights, no answer at the door. Assuming Grace was out, Evelyn waited until after 1:00 a.m., falling ill from the cold. Still no Grace.

Furious, she found Grace the next morning at the Sanitation Service Center.

"I need to see you!" Evelyn, in sunglasses, a face mask, and a baseball cap, looked terrified of being recognized. She'd forgotten that she and Brian had never been seen together publicly, and that her current status as a supporting actress in a big-budget film afforded her only superficial respect. To the public, she was merely a C-list actress.

"What is there to talk about?" Grace gave her a cold look, placing her cleaning tools on the Sanitation Service Center's bicycle. "Excuse me, I still have work to do."

Evelyn recoiled at the sight of the dirty bicycle.

Grace rode away, leaving Evelyn to stomp her foot in anger. She hailed a car and followed Grace to her street-sweeping route.

"Sis, why are you doing this? I came to ask you something. We're sisters! This isn't nice." Evelyn softened her tone.

Grace ignored her and continued sweeping.

Evelyn frowned, then followed, saying, "Sis, I came to apologize for hurting your hand. I'm sorry!"

"Right," Grace said, "and it seems you haven't paid my medical expenses. Please settle the bill."
