Chapter 243
Her face flushed, and she tried to turn away from his fingers, but they seemed to follow her.
"Don't tease me, Jason," she gasped. Her almond-shaped eyes, usually haggard under the lamplight, now blazed with anger.
He gazed into her eyes, almost mesmerically. Many women possessed more beautiful eyes, but hers were the only ones that captivated him. Looking into them made him want to possess them, to prevent her from looking at other men with the same expression.
His fingertips gently pried open her lips, sensing their temperature. "What if I'm not teasing you? What if I told you I could give you as much money as you want? Would you suffer for me then?"
She felt the coolness of his fingertips, as if they constantly registered her body temperature.
"I only earn what I earn through my labor," she said, her heart pounding.
What he just said is a joke, right? Even if he can give me money, what does he want in return? Grace thought, her almond-shaped eyes fixed on his handsome face.
Jason held her gaze. His eyelashes fluttered before he released her. Straightening up, he said softly, "Then I'll see how you trade labor for money later."
His voice was as soft as usual, as if nothing had happened.
Grace was stunned. What did that mean?
For the next two days, however, things proceeded as normal. Evelyn didn't reappear, and Jason didn't mention the subject again. The Reed family's driver, however, continued to take her to the Sanitation Service Center each day. Although the car had been replaced—with a modest BMW, costing two to three million dollars!—it remained a high-end luxury vehicle. She was always dropped off and picked up 400 or 500 meters from the center.
Grace arrived at the extras' gathering area, having been driven there by the Reed family's driver. Several extras were already present. When Grace alighted from the BMW, many were astonished.
As the car drove away, someone approached her curiously. "Who the hell are you? The daughter of a rich family? You even have a fancy car."
"A rich family's daughter? If she were, why did she kneel repeatedly last time?" another voice chimed in.
Evelyn saw that the speaker was an attractive young woman in fashionable clothing and delicate makeup.
Extras fell into two categories: those who needed the money and those who weren't short of funds but sought opportunities to impress the director and break into the film industry. This young woman clearly belonged to the latter group.
