Chapter 265
Just as she turned around, she noticed Jason leaning against the door. His eyes were fixed on her.
"Who called you?" he asked, approaching her.
"My father," Grace answered. "I'm going home tomorrow night, so can you ask the driver not to pick me up at the Sanitation Service Center?"
His eyes glistened thoughtfully. "Do you want me to go back with you?"
She looked at him in surprise. Go back with her? Why would he? Besides, she was going back to deal with her mother's affairs.
"No, I can go back by myself," Grace said. "It's late. I'm going to bed now."
In other words, she was asking him to leave.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, bent down, and picked up a strand of her long hair. "Why are you so against me?"
She pressed her lips together, remaining silent.
"Then tell me what I must do so that you'll treat me like you used to." His breath, fragrant like an orchid, sprinkled on her face. He wanted her loving smile and gentle words, the way things used to be. Her eyes, once full of him, had reflected their mutual dependence.
Like she used to?
Grace was shocked. "You used to be Jason," she murmured.
"I can be Jason too. I can be Jason just for you," he said.
Her heart jolted.
Be Jason just for her? Was that possible?
She should have been afraid, but why was her heart racing?
He slowly lowered his head, his forehead against hers. "I've only said these words to you. Will you consider me as Jason again?"
Grace barely slept, Jason's words echoing in her mind.
Be Jason again, just for her? His serious expression convinced her he wasn't playing games.
The next morning, Claire Watts greeted Grace. "Grace, Sidney is asking about you. He wants to know who you are, if you work at the Sanitation Service Center, and what happened yesterday. He said you caused quite a stir and have some influential backing. What happened?"
Sidney was the extras' coordinator. Since Claire Watts had recommended Grace, Sidney's inquiries were natural. Claire Watts was completely bewildered by Sidney's account of the previous day's events on set.
