Chapter 266
If Grace knew a big shot, why would she work as a sweeper at the Sanitation Service Center and take extra work for money?
โNoโฆ Nothing, itโs all over,โ Grace said vaguely. โClaire Watts, I think Iโm unsuitable to be an extra. I wonโt do it anymore. Please tell Sidney I apologize for the trouble. Iโll quit the group chat later.โ
Many people had witnessed yesterdayโs incident. The entertainment industry was small, and everyone knew each other. Working as an extra again would be awkward, so she decided to stop.
It was a shame she could no longer earn extra money this way. She needed to find other ways to increase her income.
โI see,โ Claire Watts replied, understanding Grace didnโt want to discuss yesterdayโs events. โIโll talk to Sidney, but you should tell him before quitting the group chat.โ
โWill do,โ Grace answered.
However, she worried more about money. She wanted to repay Lina quickly, and her grandmotherโs medical expenses could increase, creating further difficulties.
This thought brought a bitter smile. Sheโd believed studying hard guaranteed future wealth, but now she did manual labor. Years of education and legal knowledge seemed useless. She found the irony painful.
After work, Grace bought a simple packed lunch from a stall near the Sanitation Service Center. It wasnโt as good as the meals at the Reed Residence, but she ate it without constraint, unlike her meals with Jason at the Reed Residence. There, she always felt constrained and oppressed, a feeling that made her want to run away.
She couldnโt understand him. Even if he claimed to be her Jason, she couldn't discern truth from falsehood. Perhaps her prison experience fueled her fear of him. She was afraid of accidentally angering him and reliving that hell.
Shaking her head, Grace dismissed the thought. After quickly eating, she took the bus home.
However, it wasn't her home anymore.
Grace rang the doorbell. Evelyn opened it.
โThere you are, Sis.โ Evelyn seemed gentler than their first meeting on set.
Grace glanced at her and entered.
Melinda Riley greeted her warmly. โGrace! Your dad and I were just talking about you.โ
