Chapter 304

The thought of that night filled her with guilt. She blamed her high spirits that day; she didn't know her limits and thought it would be fine to drink more fruit wine. Drinking too much, however, caused trouble.

She woke up and began to recall her drunken actions: pinning him down on the bed, forcing herself upon him, and the glib talk that escaped her lips. Recalling this, Lina Sweeney felt her words were remarkably similar to those spoken by men on TV dramas! Several lines were directly copied from a series she used to watch.

She concluded that watching too many romantic dramas was detrimental. When drunk, one tends to spout empty flattery.

In the end, she had succeeded! She had her way with a handsome man she admired, not disrespected.

Sometimes, Lina Sweeney wondered if her sweet talking had actually worked. He might have been abroad too long and unfamiliar withโ€ฆ she was interrupted by a phone call from Grace, so she hurriedly checked out of her room and went home.

She considered it a romantic encounter, assuming she'd never see him again. She certainly didn't expect their next meeting to be under these circumstances.

"I left a note," Lina Sweeney said awkwardly. She hadn't exactly left without saying goodbye.

The irony in his eyes deepened. "Yes, a note. It said, 'I'm sorry. I have to leave.' That was it, wasn't it?"

Her shoulders slumped. All right, she knew it was her fault. "Then consider yourself the one who was taken advantage of. What do you want?"

He pulled a long face and stared at her. After a long while, he said, "Have you sought me out all these years?"

She bit her lip, remaining silent, but her expression answered him. She hadn't looked for him.

He chuckled, a cold chuckle. "Great, Lina Sweeney. Just great!"

She hadn't looked for him, but he had traversed nearly every place they'd been together, turning M University upside down. He even checked city surveillance records. He searched everywhere.

Lina Sweeney felt a pang of discomfort at his chuckle.

Just then, Hadwin Stephenson's phone rang. He answered, his expression subtly changing after a moment. He looked at Lina Sweeney with a questioning gaze.

"Bring them here," Hadwin Stephenson said, ending the call.

Lina Sweeney suspected the call concerned her. "What is it?"

"Jason is here for you," Hadwin Stephenson said, observing her. "I didn't expect Jason to come for you. Do you know him well?"
