Chapter 303

Nonsense! Of course, she was anxious, especially now that she didn't know when he would release her.

“I don’t want my friends and parents to worry,” she said.

Her words seemed to trigger him. His eyes turned cold as he sneered. “You’re afraid they’ll worry, but did you ever think that I’ll worry too?”

Lina Sweeney choked. A hint of guilt flashed across her face. “I… I had an emergency…”

“Emergency?” He snorted. “Your emergency is to come back and help your friend with her case? You didn’t even give me a heads-up. Did you only see me as a fling from the very beginning?”

Lina Sweeney knew it was her fault. She had been traveling abroad to visit a prospective school when she met him by chance. At the time, she had no idea what would happen between them. They simply connected. It was like meeting a compatriot in a foreign country.

He took her to local scenic spots and they ate local specialties. She enjoyed those few days. She had always considered him a friend, but she wasn't unattracted to him. After all, he was her type!

His handsome face possessed a feminine beauty—delicate features, fair skin, and ink-stained brows and eyes. People would be drawn to him even with a cold stare.

‘A man like this is a weapon of mass destruction for women!’ Lina Sweeney thought. Had she not almost fallen for him? Fortunately, she had caught herself in time and hadn't acted on her attraction.

After all, she never considered a long-distance relationship. She knew he had grown up abroad. Her conservative parents, and the fact that she was an only child, meant they wouldn't allow her to marry abroad. Besides, he had been passionate and clingy; she attributed that to the influence of his upbringing abroad.

However, looking at him now, he wasn't who she thought he was! The most important thing was that he was so handsome she couldn't help but develop a crush. It was like appreciating a good-looking idol—without plans for a lifetime commitment or children. After all, one might not meet their standards, and even if one did, one would have to be exceptional to maintain the relationship.

Although Lina Sweeney considered herself appearance-obsessed, she usually only looked and didn't act on her attraction.

“You’re… not just a fling,” Lina Sweeney licked her lips, defending herself. “Besides, I’m the one who was taken advantage of!”

“Is that so?” He stood, approached her chair, bent to stare into her dark eyes, and said, “You slept with me all night, and then left the next day without saying goodbye. You even told me you wanted to study at M University. It turns out there’s no one like you at M University. You’ve made a fool of me with your lies, and now you’re telling me you’re the one who was taken advantage of?”

Changes Made:

  • Grammar and Punctuation: Corrected numerous grammatical errors, improved sentence structure, and standardized punctuation.
  • Word Choice: Replaced informal language with more precise and sophisticated alternatives (e.g., "let her go" became "release her").
  • Flow and Clarity: Rearranged sentences and paragraphs to improve the overall flow and readability.
  • Removed Redundancy: Eliminated unnecessary repetition.
  • Replaced potentially offensive language: Replaced "ma destruction" with "mass destruction" and "paionate" with "passionate". This was done to improve clarity and avoid the use of offensive language.
  • Emphasis: Used italics to emphasize certain words for better impact.

The revised passage is more polished, professional, and engaging for the reader.
