Chapter 339

Did she not study law in the hope of serving justice? Now, however, she couldn't even protect herself.

"You're clever," the man snorted.

Grace's hands clenched into fists. Being trampled on was so easy! She trembled as the dagger approached her face. Suddenly, she lunged toward the ward door. But as she opened it, two bodyguards guarding the door held her down.

The man approached, sneering. "I thought you were brave, but you were just looking for an escape. However, as you said, there's no escape."

There was no escape, but she wanted the option of resisting, even as prey.

Grace was dragged back into the room. Just as the dagger was about to cut her face, the door burst open. A figure entered and rushed to Grace's side.

"Aren't you a little too impatient, Grandpa?" Jason, playing with the dagger, looked at Old Master Reed, still half-lying in bed. "Didn't I tell you? Don't touch her."

Old Master Reed's face remained impassive. "She's not for you."

"It's my decision, not yours," Jason retorted, glancing at Grace. "Are you hurt?"

Grace shook her head. He'd arrived just in time. The secretary, who had been about to harm Grace, was awkwardly getting up. Jason approached him. "You should be glad you didn't hurt her, or you'll regret it for the rest of your life."

He kicked the secretary in the chest and then stamped on him. "However, you need to learn your lesson," Jason said, tossing the dagger. He then punched the man in the face. Even as a tough man, he was being beaten senseless.

"I wouldn't be punching you if she didn't mind all the blood," Jason said, taking Grace's hand and heading for the door.

"Cough" Old Master Reed coughed. "Are you going to follow in your father's footsteps?"

Jason paused before leaving.

"Cough, cough, cough" Old Master Reed coughed repeatedly. Today was a test—a test of this woman's importance in his grandson's heart. If she wasn't important, her ruined face wouldn't matter. His grandson's arrival meant she was extremely important to Jason. After all, tonight was the birthday of Jason's mother.
