Chapter 342
She hesitated before saying, "Nothing. It's just that after you took me to my room, I saw you didn't go back to yours but headed for the stairs. I wondered if something was wrong. If you're alright, I'll go"
She turned to leave, but a pair of arms encircled her from behind. "Are you worried about me, Sis?"
Grace was enveloped in his scent, momentarily speechless. Worried? Was she worried about him? She was confused. Was it because he'd saved her? Was she treating him differently tonight, as Jason, and therefore worried?
As she pondered this, his breathing quickened near her ear. A muffled moan escaped his throat. His arms loosened.
Turning, Grace saw Jason pale, beads of sweat on his forehead. He clutched his upper abdomen. She shuddered, remembering a similar incident.
"You seem to remember my old faults, Sis," he murmured, a smile playing on his lips. But his pallor and the suppressed pain in his eyes made the smile seem vulnerable.
Grace quickly helped him up. Finding no place to sit nearby, she went inside, located a sofa, and helped him sit. She retrieved a tissue from the coffee table and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Is the pain sudden?" she asked.
"I ignored it earlier, thinking it would pass. I didn't expect it to hurt this much," he muttered. "I didn't expect you to remember my old faults, Sis. It seems you care about me, doesn't it?"
Grace didn't answer. Did she care? She wasn't sure.
"Where's your medicine?" she asked.
"I don't like it much. I'll wait for the pain to subside," he said.
"You don't like it? I bought you some last time, didn't you?"
"Because you bought it. How could I not take what you bought?" He took his medicine regularly, he realized.
Grace was speechless. She'd lived in a village with a nearby pharmacy. There was no 24-hour pharmacy near the Reed Residence at this hour! The servants were likely asleep. Only the security guards were probably awake.
"Is there security here? Could someone go get medicine?" she asked.
"Are you going to make me take my medicine again, Sis?" Jason asked, struggling with the pain. Chills ran through him, and he sweated profusely.
