Chapter 360

Evelyn stared at the painting, disbelief etched on her face. Earlier, Brian had stopped her from viewing the atelier. Overcome by curiosity, she’d entered, only to find a portrait of a young Grace. It wasn't a portrait of the adult Grace she knew, but a depiction of a little girl carrying a younger boy. The girl wore a floral dress—the same dress Evelyn remembered from Grace's photo album.

Panic seized Evelyn. Why was Grace's portrait in Brian's atelier? What was their relationship? The questions overwhelmed her, a more intense anxiety than she'd felt before. It felt as if Grace were about to steal everything she'd worked for.

"No! No way!" she whispered. This couldn't happen. Regardless of her relationship with Brian, Evelyn was his girlfriend, his future wife, the future matriarch of the Hart family.

Meanwhile, Grace arrived at the Reed Residence and approached Jason's bedroom. Hesitantly, she knocked. Jason opened the door, still wet from a shower, clad in a bathrobe.

"UmGoodnight," she murmured, turning to leave. He’d requested this nightly ritual—a goodnight visit if he was home.

But before she could leave, he caught her arm, pulling her inside.

"Is that all you plan to say, Sis?" he asked.

She pressed her lips together, her almond-shaped eyes meeting his innocently. Her expression betrayed nothing beyond a simple goodnight.

Jason sighed, bending to envelop her in a hug, burying his face in her neck and shoulder. He inhaled her scent, captivated.

"I miss you so much, Sis. I've been thinking about you all day," he murmured, his deep voice resonant.

Grace felt a strange numbness, a tingling sensation spreading through her body.

"Sis, do you miss me?" His breath brushed her neck.

She bit her lip, unable to answer. Silence filled the room.
