Chapter 375

Visiting her mother's grave had always been a hassle. Over time, the tombstone cracked, requiring costly repairs. Moving the grave to a proper cemetery seemed a much better solution. However, Grace's imprisonment put the plan on hold. After her release, she lacked the funds for both a cemetery plot and the labor to move the grave.

Arriving at the hillside cemetery, Grace found villagers operating a registration counter under a makeshift tent. A steady stream of visitors passed by.

When Grace gave her mother's grave number, the registrar responded immediately, "That grave was moved. What are you doing here?"

"Moved?" Grace was stunned.

"Yes, by a man named Tony Cummins. I believe he's the deceased's husband," the registrar said, looking up the information.

Grace remembered her father using the grave's relocation as an excuse to get her to come home. However, upon arrival, her father and stepmother focused on Brian, not the grave. Grace hadn't given the matter much thought. She certainly hadn't expected her father to move her mother's grave without a word.

"Do you know where he moved it?" Grace asked urgently.

"No, we only handled the paperwork for the relocation; we didn't ask the new location," the registrar replied.

"Could I… could I go and look? I'll register, just take a quick look at the spot. If it's moved, I'll leave immediately," Grace pleaded.

Seeing Grace's anxiety and pallor, the registrar relented.

Grace practically ran up the mountain. Reaching her mother's former grave site, she found only an empty pit. The tombstone was gone; nothing remained but the pit and a nearby pile of soil.

'It… has been moved!'

Stunned, Grace called her father. After a long ring, Tony Cummins answered, "What's the matter?"

"Did you move Mum's grave?" Grace asked directly.

"So what if I did? Why? This unfilial daughter finally remembers her mother's grave?" Tony Cummins replied impatiently.

"Where did you move it?" Grace pressed.

"Ha! Concerned about her grave now? Didn't you say you disowned this family? You don't need to know," Tony Cummins retorted irritably.

Grace took a deep breath. "What do you want to tell me where it is?"

"An unfilial daughter begging me? I told you not to seduce Brian; you hurt your sister. Let's be frank: fifty million, or you won't find out where it is," Tony Cummins said before hanging up.

He ignored her subsequent calls. Grace rushed to the Cummins' house, but despite ringing the doorbell and knocking repeatedly, no one answered.
