Chapter 387
Perhaps she had spoken impulsively last night, but her words were true. She had fallen in love with Jason, without realizing it.
She felt a mixture of fear and affectionโcontrasting emotions that somehow blended.
"You also said you want to date me, right?" he added.
Grace froze. She remembered him holding her after she'd confessed her feelings last night.
"What do I have to do for you to like only me?"
"Like me onlyas a boyfriend?" she asked.
"Boyfriend? Sis is trying to date me?" he murmured indulgently.
Date? The word left her mind blank. She'd never considered dating him.
He smiled. "Then let's date. What do you think, Sis?"
Grace was speechless. Dating? Jason and her? It felt impossible.
"You can't go back on your word, Sis," Jason whispered, his breath warm against her ear, as fragrant as orchids. "You said it, and I won't let you."
Determination flashed in his eyes. He wouldn't let her back out. Having her in his grasp, he wouldn't let go.
Grace felt her heart racing. Dating? Was she really dating Jason?
Still stunned, Grace went to work. But Kyla Corbyn wasn't at the restaurant. Only Mrs. Corbyn was there, holding Nelson at the counter.
"Where's Kyla?" Grace asked.
"She'son an errand. She'll be back soon," Mrs. Corbyn replied awkwardly.
Grace, oblivious to Mrs. Corbyn's discomfort, began working. She picked up Nelson and played with him. The little boy, who adored her, offered a shy smile. Grace communicated with him using her rudimentary sign language, unaware of Mrs. Corbyn's worried expression.
Meanwhile, Kyla Corbyn stood in a large office, facing Brian, the prince of the entertainment industry. She'd never imagined voluntarily seeking him out under these circumstances.
"My secretary says you've requested a meeting," Brian said, acknowledging her presence. He wouldn't have seen her without the other name she'd given his secretary.
"Mr. Hart, I've come to ask for something," Kyla said humbly.
