Chapter 390
Tony Cummins was infuriated by the remark. When he tried to question the landlord, the line had already gone dead.
"What's wrong? Did something happen to the urn?" Melinda Riley immediately asked her husband.
"The landlord said someone took the urn last night!" Tony Cummins exclaimed.
"They took it? What about our $50 million? That woman won't give us the money without the urn!" Melinda Riley worried. Suddenly, she had another thought. "Speaking of which, she must have had someone take the urn"
Frowning, Tony Cummins dialed Grace's number.
Moments later, Grace answered. "Yes?"
"Grace," Tony said, "we're father and daughter. We're still related. If you can't give me the $50 million we agreed on yesterday, give half now. I'll tell you where your mother is buried. You and Jason seem close; the money shouldn't be a problem for him." Despite the missing urn, he still tried to blackmail her. If his daughter hadn't taken it, he could settle for $25 million. He could buy a new urn and fill it with fake ashes.
He didn't see Grace's disappointed expression on the other end. His own daughter; he was using her mother's ashes to extort money. Was he really exploiting her mother's death?
"It's all right," Grace replied. "I got Mom's ashes yesterday, and I've already buried her."
Tony snapped, "It was you! What right did you have to break into my house and take your mother's ashes? You even buried her? I'm her husband! She couldn't be buried without my consent!"
"So you're aware you're her husband?" Grace retorted. "I don't think my mother would have acknowledged you if she were still alive."
"Youโ! Is that how you talk to your father? Tell me where you buried her, or I'll sue you. Even Jason can't help you. Don't think he'll take you seriously. He's just toying with you. Unlike Evelynโshe's Brian's official girlfriend"
But Tony's words were cut short. "Oh? Why don't you try and see if I can help her or not?"
The icy baritone nearly choked Tony, making him drop the phone.
Was thatJason?
Jason was with his daughter? Had he overheard?
"Wellwell" Before Tony could finish, the call ended.
He stared at his phone.
"What happened?" Melinda Riley asked quickly, having missed Jason's words.
"That girl's got connections! She has Jason protecting her!" Tony growled. His daughter had Jason's backing, and he had nothing. That was what bothered him most.
