Chapter 393

The kiss was so intense it almost choked her. Afterward, Grace felt weak, half her body supported by his arms.

"You'd better not even think about breaking up," Jason muttered, his bright eyes filled with relentless persistence. "Now that you've promised to date me, I'm the only person you can date from now on! And I'll only date you."

His voice was silky and lovely, like an invisible net tightening its grip on her.

After finishing lunch in Jason's office, Grace checked the time, quickly cleaned up, and left. Outside, she encountered Terrence, who said politely, with a hint of reverence, "Are you leaving, Miss Cummins?"

"Yes," Grace replied.

"Be careful on your way back," Terrence said.

Once Grace entered the elevator, a mid-level executive beside Terrence asked, "Who… is she, Terrence?" The woman was plainly dressed and didn't look like company personnel, yet Young Master Reed's private secretary treated her with such deference. Terrence rarely showed such respect.

"She's…" Terrence said thoughtfully, "someone we cannot mess with."

She was the one Young Master Reed treasured. To cross her would be disastrous.

Grace returned to the restaurant and resumed her deliveries. Jason always ordered a large amount of food, having it delivered to Reed Group, then asking her to stay for lunch. She felt guilty; it felt like she was conducting personal business on company time, but she couldn't refuse his orders. His daily orders provided significant income for the restaurant.

"Hmm. Where's Kyla? She's not back yet?" Grace realized Kyla Corbyn was absent; Mrs. Corbyn was manning the cash register.

"Nelson has a cold. Qianyun took him to the community health center for medicine," Mrs. Corbyn explained.

That afternoon, Kyla Corbyn returned, carrying the sleeping Nelson. Grace immediately took the child, asking, "Is Nelson okay?"

"Just a common cold, nothing serious," Kyla Corbyn said, forcing a smile.

Seeing her exhaustion, Grace offered, "You look tired. Want to rest? The restaurant's empty now."

Kyla Corbyn shook her head. "I'm alright. I'm just worried about Nelson. It's harder for him to express discomfort using sign language than speaking, and he's still too young to know much. I just hope he doesn't get sick again before his cochlear implant."

Grace looked at the sleeping Nelson. "Will he get the implant in two months?"

"Yes." Kyla Corbyn finally managed a small smile. "It's a cheaper model, but he'll be able to hear and learn to speak afterward. I'll get him a better one when I'm richer. That's pretty much my life now, but I hope he can have a good one."
